I’ll never let it go that Martin did not use a shield 🤣 (lovingly). It’s probably my favorite continuity error, because it played such an important part in Redwall and then it simply just did not exist in Mossflower. (Oh yeah and the hip scabbard. He wears the blade on his back…???)

My headcanon is that it was a gift from Salamandastron, which is also why it has the big “M” on it. (It just doesn’t seem like Martin’s style to have a big M in anything he owns)

And just how did it get to be part of a puzzle built into the abbey?

SO GLAD YOU ASKED! I fully believe that Gonff had a paw in making the whole riddle to where the sword was hidden. (And in other ways, he’s the one in the ghost world writing all the dream riddles/poems that Ghost!Martin delivers…there’s no way Martin is writing all of those.)

Also, yes I will never pass up a chance to draw Gonff with Gonflet. 😌

Kite: I like butterflies.
Sage: They aren’t like, badass though.
Kite: Butterflies scavenge corpses. Which is what they will be able to do once I am through with you.

D&D should have a Cat, Dragon and Mousefolk race so you can run campaigns based on Wariorcats, Wings Of Fire or Redwall. That’s it that’s the post

No Redwall today: I suddenly remembered Biker Mice from Mars exists and accidentally created an oc… ops.

(If you want to know more about her I’ve already set up her profile on TH btw 🐭🏍️).

…Okay I said I wouldn’t talk about Redwall but… hear me out: in the episode “Once Upon a Time on Mars: Part 2”, the Plutarkian army finds a Freedom Fighters’ hideout tucked away under a martian mouse monastery… Mars is the Red Planet… Redwall… get it? The irony! Heh.

I wonder what barley wine taste like…food description from Redwall by Brian Jacques

Answer

hearmeoutworthypoll

Reminder, the premise is “would a normie think it’s weird to find them attractive?” (Would they have to “hear me out?”) NOT “smash-or-pass”

Is Martin a “hear me out” or reasonably hot?

HearMeOut: mostly just a regular mouse

Hot: warrior in a dashing robe

Time for maybe my favourite Redwall song ever…

I went off to my bed on one dark winter’s night,
Where the ground was all snowy and covered up white,
And snug in my blanket I started to dream
That the ice had all melted away from the stream.
Oooh! Plip plop, hear the water drop,
And the larks take wing as the buds go pop!
And the sun do shine as the birds do sing,
“Throw open wide the gates of Spring!”

Then I dreamt that I felt all the earth come awake,
And the sky was as blue as a clear mountain lake,
And through that old dream a good sound ringing true,
‘Twas the heralding song of a happy cuckoo.
Ooooh! Plip plop, hear the water drop,
And the larks take wing as the buds go pop!
And the sun do shine as the birds do sing,
“Throw open wide the gates of spring!”

Fol de rol de lair oh lair oh,
Hail the newborn day;
Spring has made the weather fair, oh,
Winter’s gone away!

~Brian Jacques, “Outcast of Redwall”

Books I read in February

1. Redwall - Novel by Brian Jacques

I’m probably just too old to really feel the magic of these books, but I ended up not really enjoying this one. I can see there is a lot to love here, though, just not for me. This is the first book published in the Redwall series and tells the story of a siege, where one side is unequivocally good and one is irredimably bad. Also, all the people are woodland animals. Kind of annoying but cute!

4/10

2. The Only Good Indians - Novel by Stephen Graham Jones

It took me a while to get into this book, but once I did, I had a great time. This book barely just barley isn’t four short stories in a trench coat, and I really enjoyed getting into the different lives and headspaces of each of the characters that the stories center around. The overarching narrative follows a group of friends and the creature come back after ten years to get its revenge. The author lists 90’s slasher movies among the insprations, which makes a lot of sense to me. It definitely has the vibe of one. There is also a surprising amount of basketball.

7/10

3. All Systems Red - Novella by Martha Wells - Re-Read

What can I say? I finished the Murderbot tv-show and fell back into this fandom. This book is the first in the Murderbot Diaries and among my favorites in the series. We follow Murderbot - a security robot with a hacked governor module - and its first ventures into actual freedom into actual freedom from the company who owns it, facilitated by a group of scientists determined to see it as a person, much to its dismay.

8/10

4. Artificial Condition - Novella by Martha Wells - Re-Read

Second book in the Murderbot Diaries, introducing my favorite character: A giant research transport ship with way more weapon systems than it should have. Murderbot and the ship’s relationship is what forms the emotional core of this series, at least in my opinion it does.

8/10

5. Rogue Protocol - Novella by Martha Wells - Re-Read

Third book in the Murderbot Diaries and another one of my favs in the series. Murderbot is really going through it in this one and it’s excellent. The ending is a bit combat heavy, but I like it.

8/10

6. Exit Strategy - Novella by Martha Wells - Re-Read

Fourth in the Murderbot Diaries and the gang is back together! This one gave me a way bigger emotion than last time around. I just got super emotional reading about Murderbot connect back with its favorite human… Extremely cute and a great finish to the first arc in this story.

8/10

7. Fugitive Telemetry - Novella by Martha Wells - Re-Read?

Technically, the sixth in the Murderbot Diaries but chronologically set before book five. I’m unsure I ever finished this one in my original read through of the series. Either way, I wanted to go in chronological order this time around, and I had a lot of fun with the murder mystery in this one.

8/10
