Qotd: how is life different for you post pandemic lockdown?

AOTD: I was pretty introverted before, but now I’m truly anxious around groups of people.

Holding my Brandon Sanderson books close to my heart; right where they belong!
I was introduced to @brandsanderson books by a client and fellow high fantasy book lover about 6 years ago. I immediately fell in love with his world building and powerful soulful messages in his books. I was also thrilled to find out he’s published a TON of material and keeps churning out books every year. QOTD: What book did you love where you hoped you’d get a sequel?
Every time I looked at my shelves and saw Dance of Thieves I’d always think about how interesting the concept of the book was and that I’d love a sequel. I never remembered to follow up to see If a sequel was released but bookstagam has saved the day and I saw a few of you posting about it!
I can’t wait to add the sequel to my 2022 reading list.

Tyler Grisham is on his way to discovering lives on unknown planets. On his journey, he and his team gets trapped into the debris field of such a planet, and their vessels explode on that planet. Although there seems to be no life in there, there is something else. Something, that can take the shape of your memories. They can be happy ones, or depressing ones, depending upon the memory.
This one turned out to be unexpectedly good. I enjoyed reading the endless counter with Tyler and his memories. The author captured Tyler’s nature vividly. I did not always like Tyler’s point of view of life, he seemed extremely dominating in his married life, and easily getting distracted to the sensuality of the females around him, but to the author’s credit, the story did not become cringy at any point. The survival game stayed the bigger part of the story.

The Lulu Duologues is a collection of author’s insightful conversation with Lulu, his parrot, a personification of author’s alter-ego. Lulu has brought alive many dilemmas and questions that has been residing in the author’s mind. As we read further Lulu really grows on you with wisdom.
Deep insights covering wide range of topics this is a thought provoking book that cares to ask bold questions on the face of social paradox and points out the atrocities behind each rosy picture of today’s so called civilised human society. At places it’s humorous, making satirical remarks and throwing light-hearted jibes, in others it’s deep and concerning.
Although it’s written in conversational style the way it’s written is unique, there’s a mood lifting vibe in each passing stanza with Lulu’s aplomb remarks that brought smirk in my face while reading. I must say author’s choice of a bird instead of a human friend is a wise decision, at first it struck me odd but later I understood it’s very much appropriate to attribute a parrot in this situation, it made the storytelling more interesting and enthralling because Lulu can see with his bird’s eye view what we humans fail to see or simply ignore.
I enjoyed this book however there are some stories that didn’t intrigue me much, it may interest others. Beginner-friendly book. In a nutshell a simple, powerful approach.
