So uh, I also write Outlander fanfic and in addition to a lot of standalones/oneshots mostly tied to show canon, I also have a multichapter AU. Not Time’s Fool is in progress, but I will link to Chapter 1 here. I posted Chapter 16 of 19 today. The story is finished and I usually update weekly.

Ever wanted an AU where Claire gets a letter from her future self telling her not to trust Frank, but that she might need to go back to him after Culloden to spy on him, so she can keep Bree safe when it’s time to go back to Jamie? Features Claire and Jamie able to correspond a bit from across time, lots of time at Lallybroch once they reunite, and no William Ransom or marriage to Laoghaire. And a snarky teenage Brianna who is not thrilled about being at the center of any prophecies involving heirs of Lovat or 200 year old babies.

I’m so scared | I need you

Twenty minutes left in the second episode and so far the new Outlander season hasn’t really managed to entice me too much. What are the stakes? Jamie possibly dying for good? I would be scared if this isn’t a plot we have played through a dozen times by now. Sure, it’s the final season but still it has become a bit boring after eight seasons.

Sophie is cute. I first I didn’t like her for Breanna. I mean where are the blue Fraser eyes?! Couldn’t casting get that one very important detail right? But she grew on me. She did a good job portraying Breanna Randall Fraser Mackenzie.

Although they were right here in front of his eyes, Jamie could still hardly believe that Brianna and Roger had come back in time with the bairns to be with himself and Claire. He’d left letters at the bank from he and Claire both, detailing the business of Fraser’s Ridge including the location of the Jacobite gold, which had been intended as an inheritance of a sort. He was very disturbed to hear it had put his grandson Jem in danger, caused the MacKenzies so much trouble in their own time that they felt the need to come back to a war. Jamie decided he would move the gold right away. He and Claire also told Brianna what they had learned about her sister Faith, and who Frances was.

There was one more book gift from Brianna: a history of the Scots in America as researched by Frank Randall. Claire had no idea he had produced a manuscript. It was called The Soul Of A Rebel: The Scottish Roots of the American Revolution 1745-1791. Jamie decided he needed to read that one as soon as he could.

Out in the woods, Jamie and Brianna discovered someone had hung men branded as Tories, Loyalists to King George of England.
“There are devils on both sides of this war,” Jamie said.

According to Frank’s book, a James Fraser, along with some other Ridge Scotsmen, died in an upcoming back country battle. There was another thing that deeply affected him and brought up memories, even frightened him- Frank Randall looked awfully much like his ancestor, Black Jack Randall. Claire had never mentioned the likeness, and he confronted her about it. Frank and Jack were so different, she said, didn’t know how to tell him without much upset. Truthfully, he would’ve remembered this detail for the rest of his life. “You are mine,” he told Claire, then asked her if he would’ve trusted Frank to be an honest man. She thought so, and he had to tell Claire what he’d read: the James Fraser mentioned in the book died in the next month.
