play it again Sam!

El Techo de Cristal (The Glass Ceiling), 1971. A Hitchcockian film from Spain. A beautifully shot psychological thriller that will appeal to fans of giallo, 70s art house, and neo-noir.

What I Said Then: “Things that Will loves: 1. Ninja outfits 2. Pads on ONE SHOULDER ONLY.”
What I’m Saying Now: I don’t necessarily share Will’s love for a ninja suit, but I definitely love an asymmetrical design. They’re eye-catching and subconsciously discomfiting.

“Nera che porta via, che porta via la via/Nera che non si vedeva da una vita intera/Così dolcenera, nera/Nera che picchia forte/Che butta giù le porte…”

What I Said Then: “I hope you guys like the whispering font, because you’re going to be seeing a lot of it for a while.”
What I’m Saying Now: The big problem that this scene suffers from is the same that so many of my scenes have – it’s going to go on too long.

Robot detective Gun Nose from upcoming indie-game “GUN-NOSE”. Speedran this work since it was made for as an entry for the art-contest on X.
Since the trailer gave me some sort of art deco vibes I tried to emulate the dark deco that Bruce Timm and Eric Radomski did for Batman: The Animated Series (1992) and… well…
Please check out the trailer HERE and of you want (and can) - please check the Kickstarter page (and tell I’ve sent you lol)

Hunter Black Page 801 - What The Hell Do We Have Here?
What I Said Then: “I feel a little like people don’t fully understand our most recent flashback, which distresses me. Are you all clear on who is whom in Panel Two?”
What I’m Saying Now: I have the luxury of having written and thought about these scenes before, but it’s much easier to tell what happened than I was worried about.
The Surreal Noir Character Study of The Singing Detective
Okay, I’ve got a show to convince you of: it’s this noir, right? And also a musical. And also a profoundly weird study of post-war Britain, and a man with a chronic skin condition, and a fantasy live that revolves around him in the role of a warbling investigator. Oh, and an actual pile of shit plays a significant role in the story. Are you in yet? No? Well, bad luck, because today’s the day I want to talk about The Singing Detective.
