We understand the concern, but because we are good mods who care about your work, we will remind everyone to re-date their works on June 20th, so by the time the collection opens, all works will appear to be posted between June 20th and 21st.
Additionally, we’ll create reading lists with works separated by length, so rest assured, your beautiful creation will get its time in the spotlight.
PS. We’re really excited to see people are already working on stuff! We will be approving works to the collection as they come!

We love this spirit! We want to make Derek submit everywhere! However to be part of the Fest all the way you must submit to the AO3 collection IN ADDITION to tumblr or your usual posting place.
If you only want to submit it to tumblr, that’s fine! We want our creators to receive all the love they can (and perhaps inspire some other pieces as well) so we’ll reblog your piece as long as it mentions the following things in the post:
- Our handle @makehimsubmit (this is how we’ll find your post)
- Our AO3 collection (this is for people to find other works in the Fest)
We want to make this Fest an opportunity for creators of all kinds to participate and AO3 might not be the best platform for some submissions.
Please note that if you only submit on Tumblr, your creations will be available immediately to the rest of the world. We will do our best to compile a masterlist of all the art that was not submitted to AO3 on tumblr around June 21st (our official reveals date) so you get all the appreciation with the rest of the writers/podficcers as well
We will reblog works submitted to this fest as “fest: [format]” (e.g. fest: art) for us to have easy access to all works for masterlists when the time comes.

welllllll, shit. I procrastinated too hard on the #add year thing on mobile aaaaaaaaand now I can’t see them on there either. I’m actually really sad about that, I love seeing what year things were made in. I’ve done some surface-level poking around to find a solution or way to roll it back but I’m not like, a tech guy and no ideas I’ve had work :/
So now idk whether to
- Keep tagging them #add year in hopes that tumblr will give back the timestamps at. some point.
- Change the tag to #deactivated (more to the point, still has the same potential as above but I will feel compelled to go through and add the tag to every post from a deactivated OP and i don’t really want to do that when I could spend my time working through the queue/drafts/finding more art/playing animal crossing/making my own art y'all we are 12k posts deep already).
- Estimate year based on its earliest note with timestamps (I just don’t want to mess it up, yknow? If I’m wrong and they do come back it’ll be a pin to correct everything).
- Estimate year but also replace #add year with a tag such as #year estimated so that if tumblr DOES bring them back I can go through the tag and correct if needed.
Honestly the first and last are my faves rn unless ☝️ anyone knows anything that could help! I’m gonna ask my partner about it because he lovesd poking around the backend of sites to figure stuff out buuuut he’s not doing great physically rn so it will have to wait. Might also email tumblr support like “hey. that feature was realllllyyyyyy useful for archival blogs can we please have it back.” Or see if the xkit Devs know anything :/

You can 100% add a new fic as a follow up to an existing fic as part of a series, we aren’t the fucking cops!
Thanks for asking about topping from the bottom, it brings up an excellent point: for this fest (and IRL) bottom =/= sub
The bottom can be the sub, but that isn’t the only configuration available, so no one participating in this fest needs to write any penetrative sex at all and the fest could still focus on Derek subbing
If the topping from the bottom is an active act of submission, go for it!
PS if there is any enough interest in a specifically bottom!Derek fest, the mods would be interested in hearing about it
