Good morning! I hope you slept well and feel rested? Currently sitting at my desk, in my study, attired only in Blue Towelling Robe No. 1, enjoying my first cuppa of the day. Welcome to the weekend!
Wow! Here we are again: Friday! Where did that week go? No, seriously, where did that week go?
Yesterday’s funeral was – as expected – a joyous celebration. By the end, everyone had been fed (excellent catering), the drinks were still flowing, and the big people tunes were a-flowing! I didn’t take any selfies. Most of the people there were better looking than me, so I just took photos of them. That iPhone camera ain’t bad!
I shall be teaching all day today. Two four-hour lessons. Yes, four hours, but we do take two breaks! By the end of the day, I’ll be exhausted but elated, and I’ll be looking forward to a relaxing Friday night. Saturday will be busy, Sunday will be busy, then it starts all over again. Next week, I’ll be teaching at both schools, which means five days a week, two part-time jobs become one full-time job. I should be retired by now! I should be sitting in an armchair working my way through my pile of books, or I should be planning our next holiday. Yes, I know I’m mad. You don’t have to tell me.
On Wednesday night, I was watching ‘Gilmore Girls’ (for the second time) and I suddenly got an urge to make a list. ‘Top 10 TV Shows’. You know how I love lists! Anyway, I started compiling a list of my favourite TV shows and 10 quickly became 20 and, very quickly, I was way over 20, so it had to become a Top 30. I am still pondering but, later today, I will publish that list. You will obviously scream with horror that I haven’t included your favourite TV show but, I will let you know now, there are some massively popular TV shows that do nothing for me! Zilch! Leave me stone cold. Wouldn’t watch them if you paid me! Not my thing! So, before you get your knickers in a twist, see if you can compile your own list! Not an easy task!
Hope you can join me tomorrow at 1.00 p.m. for ‘The A-Z Of Mi-Soul Music’. Just before we start The Letter J, we have a special show, ‘The A-Z Of JB Rose’, with the young lady choosing all the music and coming into the studio to co-present. It’s a great show, so I hope you can join us.

Contrary to all logic and and/or common sense … my show profile here on Mixcloud appears to be on the cusp of having 1,000 followers. This is all the more remarkable given that I only hit the 500-follower mark during Christmas week. (It was, to be honest, my FAVOURITE present! Thank you, Santa!)
While I am pretty happy with the recent development of both the show and my skills as a presenter, I know the bump in followers is a direct result of being “spotlighted” by other Mixcloud creators I admire and am learning from every day. And the only way to say thank you is to be as big of a cheerleader and support to them as they have been (and continue to be) for me. You Lovelies know who you are and you are THE BEST!
In the grand scheme of things, the number of followers I have or don’t have makes little difference to how I interact with this platform. It’s the people who matter … and the connections made through our shared love of music and (occasionally) the shared challenges of mastering the technology that’s brought us together around it!
Thanks to everyone who has tuned in, answered my dumb questions and provided excellent advice … your generosity and patience have touched me in ways I’m not sure I can describe. The current state of the world makes it more important than ever to foster community where-ever we can find it. Here at Mixcloud I have definitely found my tribe.
