Being There’s plot follows Chance, a simple-minded gardener who lived his whole life in a sheltered home, forced into the world after his employer dies; his TV-shaped worldview leads powerful people to mistake his literal, garden-based comments as profound political wisdom, skyrocketing him to national fame as a sage, despite his profound ignorance, satirizing media, celebrity, and superficial understanding.

We are currently living this Reality-TV-Reality as our Currently President spends most of his days Watching TV and then babbling on about the crazy things that he “saw” and “heard” on TV as if those things were actually true. Which his “follower” applaud as “profound observations.”
