Watching Smallville for the first time - Season 3 Episode 1

Now that i think about it, is Lana’s new strong interest for Clark like how some toxic relationship go? Lana got small and separated views to Clark’s inside and he always rescues her. Maybe she will gain some obsession for him. (I am just overthinking)

Jor-El sounds like an asshole, I hope he changes his ways and becomes more tolerable. It also made me thought about this show, and others like Winx Club, refer to biological parents as “real parents”, I hate when shows do that, implying that adoptive parents are “fake” parents.

ok so i did watch the new superman movie this summer and i recently finished the harley quinn hbo series and something that really stood out to me was the difference in portrayal of lex luthor. because in the superman movie it really hammers home the central point of his character; the greedy white supremacist billionaire who doesn’t care who he hurts to get what he wants, etc. and in the harley quinn series… he’s black.
which in fairness: yes, i know that superman was a drama and harley quinn is an animated comedy show. i know that lex is the main villain in superman and he’s a minor character in harley quinn (tho he does drive a decent amount of the plot in the show). and i know that by making him black, they were probably trying to be progressive.
but like… is it not obvious that they completely undermined the whole point with that choice??? in the harley quinn show, lex gradually steals superman’s hair, builds some inanely faulty and expensive tech, causes a brief apocalypse - there’s even a fight scene on the moon. it all fits perfectly into the political narrative that lex was created for, especially with everything happening in the world right now (though i know the show ended a while ago). like… i REALLY enjoyed the show, it’s actually one of my favorites, and this specific thing was one of the only things that was really weird to me. was anyone else bothered by this??
maybe instead of race-swapping existing characters in an obviously contrived attempt at inclusion, we just make newer, more diverse characters!

the way they talk to each other ;_; their voices both sound intimate when they speak to each other… like all their conversations are meant to be private to only them… and their micro-expressions.. it’s all so subtle… Lex’s heartbreaking expression when Clark says he defended him (with implication that he shouldn’t have)… gah… Michael Rosenbaum is an amazing actor.. he’s such a wacky and loud goofball irl, but he has such delicate and subtle control over his voice and expressions when the moment calls for it… can go from charming charisma to devastation in the blink of an eye and convey so many feelings from just how he glances down.. they both have beautiful expressive voices… so interesting how Rosenbaum can convey vulnerability and tenderness and wistfulness while still having a commanding presence as Lex does…
