While out with her daughter they found a baby girl, being as they are on the poorer side and don’t know whose baby this is they walk her to the foundling home.

I found an old, glass negative among my grandparents things years ago. When finally processed, this was the amazing image. The negative was in a paper bag labeled, 1906 Championship Team. The school is Islip High School, on Long Island. The second player from the right is my Great Uncle, Dudley Moore. He would go on to play at Columbia after high school. This image is one of my favorites!

“Thursday, April 24, 1645. Cromwell’s horse and dragoons ruined some of our horse that quartered about Islip, of the Lord of Northampton’s command. 21 buried in Islip. 18 men buried over against Killington.” - diary of Royalist trooper, Richard Symonds.
In the spring of 1645, Sir Thomas Fairfax, Captain-General of the recently-formed New Model Army, was ordered to march to relieve the Royalist siege of Taunton. Fairfax marched from WIndsor on 30 April 1645 to rendezvous at Newbury with Lieutenant-General Oliver Cromwell, who was active with a cavalry brigade around Oxford, raiding Royalist garrisons, and rounding up all the draught animals he could find in order to immobilise the King’s artillery and prevent him from leaving the city. Royalist garrisons were scattered in a somewhat ineffectual ring around Oxford and the action at Islip left an important crossing point of the River Ray in Parliamentarian hands. While Cromwell did not have the forces to directly attack overcrowded Oxford, the success of his attacks so close to its walls - Islip is less than seven miles from Oxford - helped show King Charles that his capital was no longer safe.
