And now I’m thinking of Ilya watching Land Before Time and just full body sobbing from THAT SCENE until Shane wakes up/comes home and holds him until he calms down.

I’ve got a Heated Rivalry hot take I haven’t seen anyone else tackle.

I think they’d have a long simmering then big blow out about having kids.

Shane doesn’t want kids and Ilya does.

In truth Ilya kinda forgot gay couples could have kids in America. Until Jackie asks if they’re going to have any. He thinks raising a family with the man he loves would be fun. Kids are always fun. He’d do a better job that his father, not that that’s a high bar. But it would be good, an adventure to have with Shane. And sure Shane is a little awkward with kids but that’s other people’s kids. It would be different with their own. Right?

Shane thinks Ilya would be a great dad. But he’s not sure about himself. Doesn’t like the idea of a little person completely dependent on him. Of adding another thing to the neverending list of things that need his time and attention. He’s known Hayden’s kids since they were born and he still doesn’t get them. He’s not good with the camp kids either. Shane doesn’t do many things he’s not good at. It’s harder to read kids than adults. Why bring that stress home for a potential 18 years?

How they decide what to do i don’t know. But yeah that’s my take.
