Wushan Goddess, Ink and color on silk, Hanging Scroll (1982)
Classic-style hanging scroll painted by the Chinese illustrator and painter Hua Sanchuan (1930–2004).
The work captures the famous mythological figure, the Wushan Goddess. This deity is traditionally associated with the gorges of the Yangtze River and is often identified in legends as the immortal Yaoji.
The ink and color on silk uses delicate brushwork and line quality common to traditional Chinese painting styles.
