A great UI blends into the experience. What’s a game with the best UX you’ve seen?
How do you try to make it as frictionless as possible to digest a game where the primary interface with the world is reading text? We tried to hook into some psychological behaviors that influenced our UI.
This approach was modeled after I watched a talk by the Disco Elysium creators on how they focused modeled their UI to work like Twitter, hoping to hook into the users tendency to scroll. We took that principle and approached it from a different angle, attempting to model our dialogue UI like texts, since everyone these days texts all the time.
We gave a bobble to our bubbles to draw attention to interactable objects! 💬🫨 Never miss game dialogue again!

私とMansly(チームMaOw)は2個目の新しいゲームWinds&Templesを完成し、GooglePlayやオンラインで公開されました。
今回のストーリースタイルは昔の日本で、昔の日本の家紋やシンボルをインスピレーションとしてデザインに取り入れました。
ゲームプレイはターンごとに風を利用し移動する2次元ボードゲームです。悪の侍を倒すためにプレーヤーはターンごとに風に乗り、危険を乗り越えながら寺を巡り美術品を手に入れなければなりません。
ターンごとに風の向きが変化し進める方向が変わっていくので先を予測しながら慎重にプレイするひつようがあるゲームです。現在英語とドイツ語版がありますが、日本語版もできたら作りたいと思っています。

I and Mansly (We are MaOw!) have completed our second new game, Winds&Temples, which is now available on Google Play and online.
The story style this time is old Japan, and we used old Japanese family crests and symbols as inspiration for the design.
The gameplay is a two-dimensional board game where each turn the player moves using the wind. In order to defeat the evil samurai, the player must ride the wind each turn, overcome dangers, and travel to temples to acquire artifacts.
The direction of the wind changes with each turn, so you need to play carefully and predict the future. Currently, there are English and German versions of the game, but I would like to make a Japanese version as well.

I haven’t been able to draw much lately due a repetitive strain injury in my right elbow that has been flaring up. :/ I do have some new work to show, though!
