I can’t even come up with any good insults for them in my head. The worst I can do is for one guy, and it’s that he stole someones flute in band class bc they loaned it to him, which tbh I wish they didn’t bc he slowed the flute section down so much bc I don’t think bro could get thru a single fucking quarter note bar. Bruh. Like I’m not a great player but at least I can play moving 8th notes 😔 embarrassing tbh

Changing music out in the folder for the flute choir concert this weekend and found myself absolutely consumed with the realization that Christmas feels like it was 10 years ago.

My flute seems to have a bit of a loose valve. Sigh.
It’s not loose enough to be a big issue, but something to watch out for with certain notes, as we realized during my lesson when some notes came out airy and fuzzy when the valve wouldn’t close all the way. I have had this flute for three years, give or take, already, and at this point in my studies, I play a lot–a little wear and tear is expected at some point.
My teacher tried to fix it, but she was unable to reach the tiny screw–someone thought to put it in a place where it cannot be accessed without damaging the instrument like a mastermind. I’ll probably have to send the flute out to a professional to get it fixed before my demonstration of skill concert in May, but the waiting times are bound to be long. Until then, I’ll have to take care to put more pressure to a few certain valves to ensure the loose one does it’s job.
I love the part of my sheet music that tells me to play a note that doesn’t exist 🥹
only other instrument in band that you’ll never ever hear me hating on is clarinet

The song I am currently playing on my flute in preparation of my demonstration of skill concert coming up in early May really sucks a**.
Like, the sheet music doesn’t look too difficult at first glance, or even when you start playing it at first…However, once me and my teacher start filing down individual details, things get tricky.
I am out of breath (as in the “I-haven’t-ever-breathed-before-and-don’t-know-what-that-is” type of way), the tone I’ve been perfecting the past 10 years is absolutely nowhere in sight and my embouchure is just a struggle. Also, apparently, what on earth are volume changes? We totally haven’t heard of those in this house 🤷♀️
Can’t wait to spend the next two months fixing this to hopefully get there in time.
Guys. I’m starting to think I like marching band more than people. Like- not band people. Ok IDK WHAT I MEAN
My main point is it’s something I’m passionate about and I’m yearning for next season
