The wind howls viciously against the house, scattering thick clumps of snowflakes across the window. The glass, thick as it is, radiates its chill on the other side. Factorial can feel it on his skin. He outstretches a finger, tapping the glass to test the temperature - only to quickly tuck his hand back under the thick, plushy duvet.
“It’s really cold outside…” He whispers to himself, grey eyes darting between the bits of snowfall twirling in the wind. “I hope the animals are warm.” He looks down at the splash of vivid color nestled in his arms. Mr. Carrot seems to be comfy in his warm hug.
Don’t worry, they all have something to keep them toasty, Factorial narrates for the plush. Snow fairies have feathers, right? And they cuddle together, just like us. That keeps them nice and warm, even if they’re tiny.
“I’m tiny too, but I don’t have feathers… How could I survive out there?” As if feeling the frost, he sinks below the covers a bit further. “I would hug you really, really tight, but you’d be cold too…”
You give the warmest of hugs, I’d be fine. The fox’s smile broadens a little, seeing the content expression of his friend. You have Miko. You make her happy, and she keeps you safe and warm and fed.
“I really want to make her happy with me… She’s so good to me already…” The blizzard continues, but the hypnotising sight of it makes Factorial’s eyelids much heavier. His voice is getting drowsy. “I don’t know what I would do without her…”
She said that seeing you comfy pleases her. How about you do that? It’s already getting hard to fight off the exhaustion. Where did it come from, anyway…?
He murmurs, shifting his head deeper into the pillow. “But I didn’t work today, or do anything to deserve this… Are you sure it’s okay, Mr. Carrot? Won’t she get mad?”
Has she ever? Factorial squeezes his companion. “Okay. I’ll make sure to make myself comfy for her. I hope Miko will be happy.” His tails wrestle under the sheets before they can get themselves tucked between his legs, just like a fluffy long pillow. He curls his legs up and squishes his face into the plump leaves of his teddy. Only a pair of white ears remains, hardly visible on the backdrop of snow and pristine bedding.
Rest, Factorial. It’s been a long day, an exhausting day. You felt a lot of things and your brain worked very hard. You deserve a nap.
“Mmm…” He yawns widely, licking his lips a little. “Goodnight, Mr. Carrot.”
Goodnight. With that send-off, the male lets his eyes shut and his mind drift off into slumber.
“Sleep well, Factorial.” Miko, having heard the one-sided exchange, cannot help a soft smile. It’s a long way yet, but now, at least, he’ll get some sleep. He deserves it.
She gently closes the door.

I wanted to write something nice for them, since Equals is really sad so far… And the weather is so cold that you want nothing but to curl up like Factorial and sleep it through until spring comes and lights up the world. Here’s the lovely drawings of Factorial I got… They’re just so lovely I can’t 😭

Death by snu snu characters and fic length poll
Character requests are as follows: Eula with 7 votes, Beidou with 4, Dehya with 3, Jean and Shenhe with 2 each, and various others with 1 each (Varesa, Raiden, Skirk, Collei, Escoffier, Yelan, Miko, Keqing, Hu Tao, Clorinde, Xianyun, Columbina, Shinobu). Going by the idea of making one continous scene, it would feature Eula, Beidou and Dehya with Lumine watching over to make sure the Reader doesn’t snap in half after round one. That’s a respectable combo, each can break a pelvis on her own… Tough luck, guys. Tough luck.
Now for the other thing. The biggest struggle I have writing is one single thing - “is it long enough?”. This is why it takes me so long to do anything, especially longer things like Equals and earlier Mortuarius (rip bozo). So far Equals V is twelve A4 pages or 23 A5 pages (over 5k words, which I don’t think is a lot). I constantly keep saying “well there’s not much going on, it needs to be longer and more things have to happen”, but that kind of goes against what Equals is, a slow burn? I don’t know. I’m frankly a bit lost. Writing alone leaves me without anything other than my own feelings to go off of. I wouldn’t want to disappoint. So how long do you think a chapter of Equals should be? Think of how long you could read a book without getting bored, assuming the content is mildly interesting (like Equals).
How long? A5 (book) pages/words.
