Customizing Your Gear: The Benefits of Tailored Workwear Technical Solutions

Continued from the last post. I indeed continued with the waistcoat as I had the pattern and the design is rather simple overall.

As you can see I shortened the waistcoat during the process I just eyeballing how long it needed to be.
And I decided to add some visible seams for a overall neat finish.

Or so I thought. i didn’t expect the button holes to be total butt holes this time as the machine somehow didn’t want to sew the thread onto the fabric OTL
And no I don’t have brown thread somehow, the red looked fine with the rest but it’s a bit too much for the buttonholes now. well… i can remake it later if i feel like it.

It looks a bit better with the buttons sewed on luckily.
Next up is the coat but I need to make pattern for that first. I’m also debating on making him a hat…
also yes his eyes are the wrong color I’m waiting for his eyes.

A week later I was finally able to start on the coat. I had to make a full new pattern and tried a few things here. In the end I need to make a mental note for more adjustments here and there.

This was day one for the coat I decided to do the handwork the next day.

So here we have all the details done by hand, mainly closing the seams from turning it inside out, the sleeves and then the buttons. Plus some fake pockets as I don’t feel confident enough to do actual pocket yet. (Last photo is monochrome as I took some photos of a doll in before and forgot to change the settings).

So here is the first look with coat, i liked the back but it looked a tad too bulky so I adjusted it again.

I tried to replicate one of those adjustment-straps for coats/waistcoats out of the blue for it. Next time I will do that within the pattern but I didn’t want to open all the seams again.

So here he is <3 William J. Moriarty! I have yet to come up with photo ideas for him but everything is just snow outside rn. Maybe he’s a candidate for an indoor photoshoot instead. I will wait for his matching eyes to arrive first.

People in different social categories—rich and poor, old and young, women and men—sort trash differently in part because they have learned different skills. Fixing and finding uses for worn and broken articles entail a consciousness about materials and objects that is key to the process of making things to begin with.
Repair ideas come more easily to people who make things. If you know how to knit or do carpentry, you also understand how to mend a torn sweater or repair a broken chair. You can appraise the materials and evaluate the labor of the original maker; you understand the principles of the object’s construction; you can comprehend the significance of the tear or the wobble and how it might be mended; you know how to use needles or hammers; you can incorporate leftover scraps from your own previous projects or consign objects beyond repair to your scrap collections. Even at the end of the nineteenth century, when factory production was already well established, many Americans possessed the skills and consciousness required for repairing.
[…] The preindustrial blacksmith made things to order for people in his immediate community; customizing the product, modifying or transforming it according to the user, was routine. Customers would bring things back if something went wrong; repair was thus an extension of fabrication.

When it comes to curating the perfect everyday carry (EDC) setup, every detail matters. Whether you’re carrying a knife, a flashlight, or a multi-tool, the goal is always the same: make your gear functional, stylish, and easy to access. One often overlooked yet incredibly effective way to enhance your EDC setup is through the use of custom lanyard beads.
Lanyard beads are not just decorative accessories; they serve both practical and aesthetic functions. They can improve your gear’s accessibility, enhance its appearance, and even give it a personalized touch. Imagine having a knife lanyard bead made of bronze or brass that not only looks great but makes grabbing your knife from a pocket or bag a whole lot easier. If you’re looking for the perfect beads to elevate your EDC gear, you can explore high-quality paracord beads to add both style and functionality to your setup.
In this article, we will dive into the importance of lanyard beads in your everyday carry gear, the different materials used, and how custom beads can truly set your setup apart.
Lanyard beads are a simple yet effective addition to your EDC gear, designed to make carrying and using your tools more convenient. At their core, lanyard beads serve a dual purpose: they enhance your gear’s functionality and provide a means for customization. When attached to a lanyard, these beads make it easier to pull out knives, flashlights, or other tools from a pocket, backpack, or sheath. This can be especially helpful in situations where quick access is critical, such as during outdoor activities, survival scenarios, or daily tasks.
Moreover, lanyard beads can also help prevent items from getting lost or buried at the bottom of your bag. They make it easy to identify your tools quickly, ensuring that you don’t have to waste time searching for them when you need them the most.
On top of that, lanyard beads are an excellent way to add a touch of personality to your gear. Whether you prefer sleek, minimalist designs or something more intricate and bold, these beads allow you to express your individuality.
Not all lanyard beads are created equal. The material used in their construction plays a huge role in both their aesthetic appeal and practical functionality. When choosing lanyard beads for your EDC gear, it’s important to consider the material’s durability, weight, and overall look.
Bronze Beads: Known for their rustic charm, bronze beads provide a vintage look and exceptional durability. Over time, bronze develops a natural patina that adds to its character. For EDC users who appreciate the beauty of aging materials, bronze beads are an excellent choice.
Brass Beads: Brass beads are a popular option for those looking for something sturdy but not as heavy as bronze. They offer a bright, shiny finish that can complement a wide range of gear. Brass is also resistant to corrosion, which makes it a great choice for outdoor activities.
Silver Beads: If you want something that screams sophistication, silver beads may be the way to go. While they are generally more delicate than bronze or brass, they are still a popular choice for their sleek, polished appearance. Silver beads give a modern and elegant touch to any EDC kit.
Each material comes with its unique properties and advantages. Bronze beads can withstand rough conditions, brass is a good balance between weight and durability, while silver beads offer a refined, shiny appeal. When selecting beads, consider how they will complement your gear’s overall design and functionality.
One of the greatest advantages of using lanyard beads is the ability to personalize your EDC gear. Custom beads can reflect your personal style, preferences, and even the type of activities you engage in regularly. Whether you’re an outdoor enthusiast, a professional, or someone who just enjoys having a unique setup, customizing your lanyard beads can make a big difference.
For example, you can choose beads that match your favorite color, feature a specific pattern, or even incorporate symbols that hold personal meaning. Some EDC users opt for custom-engraved beads with initials, logos, or meaningful dates. This level of customization makes your gear feel more personal and tailored to your individual needs.
In addition to aesthetics, custom beads can also be a great conversation starter. Imagine showing off your gear at a camping trip or at a meetup and having someone ask about your unique beads. They’re an easy way to stand out and share your personality.
While the visual appeal of lanyard beads is undeniable, they are also incredibly practical. When you add a bead to your knife or flashlight lanyard, it becomes easier to access the tool quickly and efficiently. This is particularly valuable when you’re on the move or need to grab your gear in a hurry.
In the case of knives, for instance, a lanyard bead can improve grip. It allows you to get a better hold of your knife when retrieving it from a pocket or pouch. This can be particularly useful in high-stress situations, where every second counts, such as in survival scenarios or during an outdoor adventure.
Moreover, custom beads can also serve as a way to differentiate your tools from others. If you’re carrying several similar items—such as flashlights, knives, or multi-tools—custom beads make it easy to distinguish one from the other. This means you won’t have to waste time figuring out which tool you’re grabbing.
Lanyard beads are more than just decorative additions to your EDC gear; they provide both functionality and personal style. Whether you prefer the rustic charm of bronze, the sleek look of silver, or the durable appeal of brass, there’s a bead material that fits your needs. Customizing your EDC setup with these beads can improve accessibility, organization, and even provide a sense of uniqueness.
If you’re looking to take your gear to the next level, consider exploring high-quality paracord beads. The right bead not only enhances the look of your tools but also makes them more functional, giving you a reliable and stylish setup that stands out from the crowd. By investing in custom lanyard beads, you can ensure that your EDC gear is as unique and efficient as you are.
