Been thinkin’ ‘bout my relationship with the Ghostbusters franchise and how I kinda thought the original movie was just “OK” even before I grew to resent toxic dudebros shouting “FEMALE GHOSTBUSTERS?!! YOU’RE RUINING MY CHILDHOOD” and the showrunners going “oh shit OK uhhh those ladies aren’t canon and the NEW movies are all about people fawning over how awesome the REAL Ghostbusters are”

and I realize my lukewarm reaction came down to seeing the movie for the first time as a female asexual teen and being too disturbed by the situations Sigourney Weaver is put in (pursued by an asshole and a stalker, forced to have sex with said stalker via demonic possession) to really enjoy the rest of the movie

and now I get talked into watching Poltergeist and um THAT came out two years earlier and had a FEMALE paranormal psychologist leading the ghost investigation team and a FEMALE spirit medium taking charge when things get rough and the central characters are the MOM and the DAUGHTER and it SURPASSES the Bechdel Test by thousands of miles and it’s like??? Ghostbusters writer dudes????? what the actual FUCK

Murmuring and complaining didn’t help the Israelites, and it won’t help us either. Instead, we should GUARD ourselves from it. We should give God our Gratitude, Unburden our hearts, Affirm our trust in God to take care of us, Request for God to help us, and then Decide to prayerfully watch and wait to see what He will do. If you’re a Harry Potter fan in 2026 I automatically don’t trust you. And don’t come at me with your “But I’m only part of the Marauders fandom, it’s mostly fan created and queer inclusive. I only buy second hand or fanmade merch” shut up. Just shut up. You know who owns the franchise and you know how publicity works and by consuming even the smallest part of it you’re taking part in keeping something alive that acitvely helps fund hate politics.
