I was babysitting for this Catholic family for a side job (parents works from home so they need extra help looking after their 2 toddlers) and the mom just casually said that their eldest is an IVF baby. I was shocked but I didn’t express my disapproval. For the rest of the day I was there, I was thinking about how am I gonna charitably tell her that IVF is sinful AND say that her daughter is still made in the image and likeness of God so they won’t receive the Eucharist unworthily. But it didn’t seem right to talk about it in front of the kids even though they’re too young to understand so I didn’t say anything. That maybe there’s really no easy way to say it without them getting offended so maybe God was telling me not to. So I just decided to add them to my rosary intentions (that they’ll eventually realize that they’re wrong for doing that and repent).

Because it’s such a delicate matter that just stating the Church’s teaching would feel harsh and might actually backfire.

So please pray.

Original sin has left us blinded by concupiscence. Evil tends to blind us to reality, Jesus acknowledges this on the Cross in His exhortation, “Forgive them Father, for they know not what they do.”

In the manner of Jesus’ healing of the blind man, He mirrors the Creation account and prefigures the sacraments. The man did not shy away from proclaiming his newfound sight and faith in Jesus.

We must be prepared to give our own account of our newfound sight and re-creation in Christ, even in the face of objections and insults.

- From this morning’s homily on Jesus’ healing of the blind man.

Eventually, Mom got information to piece together the history of Dad’s mental illness. His parents had always lied about it, but his Aunt P was a wealth of honest information. She told Mom how they kept dad locked in a basement. She told Mom about psych ward stays, and Dad’s ex-wife. #survivor

lukewarm take

Ik tumblr won’t receive this well but yall r way too comfortable with sexualizing nuns and priests. All the priest! Character x reader fanfics and drawing/dressing up as ‘sexy nuns’ are a slap in the face to a group of people who have made it very clear that they wish to NOT be sexualized (to be clear I’m talking not referring to clergypeople that are permitted to have intimate relations within marriage). And the ‘sky daddy’ thing is weird too. Not everything has to be sexualized. Like I’m a huge perv but some of yall js don’t know when to chill tf out
