The difference between buzzfeed and quotev quizzes have to be studied. Buzzfeed mfs will ask you genuinely the most basic questions and arbitrarily give you a result while half of quotev quizzes are roleplay 😭

Welp, I’ve made my decision. I have officially unfollowed Chikn Nuggit, The Land of Boggs, and especially The Good Advice Cupcake across YouTube, Twitter, and Instagram.

The reason I decided to unfollow and unsubscribe from these channels is because BuzzFeed, the company behind them, is choosing to use AI-generated content. I strongly dislike AI-generated art and animation, and I believe real art made by real people is far more meaningful. Learning how to draw and animate through genuine effort and creativity will always matter more to me than AI-generated material.

Because of that, I’m stepping away from everything related to Chikn Nuggit, The Land of Boggs, and The Good Advice Cupcake. I just can’t support something that’s moving in that direction.

That being said, I’m still grateful for the memories and enjoyment these shows gave us while we followed them. Unfortunately, seeing them move toward AI-generated content feels incredibly disappointing, and it’s not something I want to keep supporting.

And if you’re a friend or follower of mine who mainly followed me because of Chikn Nuggit, The Land of Boggs, or The Good Advice Cupcake, I’m truly sorry if this is upsetting news. I completely understand if those shows still mean a lot to you. For me personally though, it’s time to move on and focus on other interests and fandoms instead.

So apparently buzzfeed is forcing animators to let them use their assets to train AI for a secret project that they’re not allowed to talk about. I didn’t like them before this but shame on them.

I am so fucking disappointed in BuzzFeed. No seriously, I’m disappointed and disgusted. Picture this; You have a labour of love, a project you’re the proudest of in your life, only to have it be stolen by (insert company here) to feed to generative AI. That’s exactly what happened to Kyra. I find BuzzFeed feeding Chikn Nuggit to generative AI disgusting to put it bluntly.

Chikn Nuggit isn’t the only victim of the AI-pocalypse either, there was Nickelodeon who used AI for SpongeBob a couple of times, and there’s Kingstone and what they’re doing to VeggieTales. Phil and Mike don’t approve of what Kingstone is doing, and I’m sure Stephen would’ve hated seeing his beloved characters used this way by Nick. And I’m pretty sure that Phil, Mike, and Stephen if he was still here with us, would stand by Kyra greatly on this.

I’m gonna state bluntly what AI does: it wastes a fuckton of water! You might be tired of hearing that, but there is an actual study by the Houston Advanced Research Center and University of Houston that states that data centers in Texas will use 49 billion gallons of water in 2025, and as much as 399 billion gallons in 2030 if not sooner.

But that’s not the only way AI hurts the environment, oh no! That’s just scratching the surface. It’s also due to energy consumption for training and running models, significant water usage for data center cooling, and electronic waste from hardware, according to National Education Association.

It’s also why ram is so expensive nowadays. For example, 64GB DDR5 kits rising from 209 USD to 650 USD in some cases.

These would be the things Chikn Nuggit would actually stand against. These are things anyone with a functioning brain would stand against. But it’d seem that BuzzFeed doesn’t have functioning brains, or if they do, they’re using their brain function to sabotage Kyra’s career. And it disgusts and concerns me to no end.

Now, is it all bad? Actually no, I’m actually rooting for Kyra here. According to one of her YouTube community posts, she’s having a discussion with BuzzFeed about this. I really hope that it does go well for Kyra and they end up realizing their error. I’m not saying it’ll happen for sure, but fingers crossed.

I just hope it isn’t like Phil and Mike where the creator gets fired for wanting to be more involved. That’s what happened with VeggieTales, I don’t want it to happen to Chikn Nuggit. But will it? I don’t know! I will say this though: DomSauce predicted it all.

I know I don’t usually post rants like this, but this needed to be addressed now more than ever. Let’s remember to stand with Kyra and fuck AI.

An idea I’ve been kicking around for years now is what I call the “Buzzfeed Bestie.” It’s based on those Buzzfeed listicles from like 2013-2016 that were like “13 things only real BFFs understand” and the examples were always like “She’ll help you hide a body!” “She knows you’re actually a slut!”

So like, now when I have a friend who is describing some like, Not Ideal behavior, but I don’t want to get into it with them or I feel like it’s better just to support them for whatever reason, I call that being a Buzzfeed Bestie.

A Buzzfeed Bestie doesn’t say “Hey that story you just told me really worries me as your friend. Can we talk about it?” A Buzzfeed Bestie says, “giiiirrrlll you’re crazy! you’re crazy girl!! love ya!”

Anyway I’m working on some writing along these lines, but this is my basic theory of the Buzzfeed Bestie, born of an internet era that, as I’ve been reminded through my research, valued female friendship in a way that was sort of new and beautiful at the time, even if it’s perplexing to me now
