WACO IS UNDERRATED

Waco, TX is a cool ass city that like people outside of texas might not know about it. It’s got cults, tornados, and interesting history

Cults

I mean obviously I feel like most people know about the Waco Cult Massacre. When the FBI set fire to the cult building killing most members including children. Because they believed the cult was stockpiling weapons (they were) for bad purposes (probably yea) after a 51 day siege and at one point the cult sent out someone to say “women and children out first then well begin” or something like that I dont remember exactly. Then the FBI set the building on fire killing most members and children. FBI denied it at first but admitted to using pyrotechnic gas bombs. Later on this and the Ruby Ridge incident inspired the Oklahoma City Bombing, because the bomber believed that it was evidence of tyrannical government and oppression and hoped to start a revolution. I mean he’s not completely wrong, both times are when the FBI fucked up. (Side thingy, there’s some evidence McVeigh didn’t work alone, and the FBI focused on him so they could tell the public their safe. Because we’d rather blame one person and feel safe than look into it more. But like research it yourself because I could be wrong af).

Tornados

heres the thing, Waco before 1953 had like really big economic growth. Like a lot. Then it got hit by this giant tornado, leaving really only the ALICO ,and a couple of lower to the ground buildings, which is a local landmark due to it being the tallest building in Waco. In fact it used to be the tallest building west of the Mississippi. But I truly believe if the tornado didn’t hit Waco, it would be like athens is Georgia (sorry non-americans who don’t get it), or could possibly match Austin.

Mammoths

waco is home to the ONLY Columbian mammoth nursing herd discovered. Looking at the Fossils you can see a female mammoth protecting the baby mammoths from a flood that killed them. And one camel. It’s really interesting

Racism

Waco had an infamous lynching, that inspired a large NAACP campaign. There’s more on the subject I personally don’t know about. Also Waco is named waco to honor the name of the tribe that lived here before they were forced out.

Brazos

ITS THIS HUGE RIVER. There’s like this suspension bridge. And it’s really cool it’s the founding of Waco.

Baylor

Baylor is quite a bit of Waco, but it does a good job remembering(? I forgot the word that means like honor but it’s for something bad) it’s racist history. They crew this heat county map like floor showing slaves per county and talking about how many slaves the founders of Baylor had. Baylor also has the immortal 10 their basketball team in the 20s I think who died on the way to their game. Idk I just think Baylors a cool school

Dr. Pepper

Dr pepper is from waco, yeah the world of coke but for Dr pepper is there.

Idk cool history and waco that needs to be talked about

Scott Drew tells CBS Sports why James Nnaji will play for Baylor after being selected in NBA Draft

How’s this for a midseason plot twist: We’re about to flip the calendar to January and suddenly unranked Baylor has become the Black Hat of college basketball.
Before I explain why BU coach Scott Drew is catching heat, here’s the need-to-know background on how college basketball has reached a new level of the bizarre in an increasingly volatile roster-building environment.
