My minis are on Page 36, the Mosswood Rangers!

The Overlord-C dropship called “Universal Love” was a gift … and apart from the four gaping holes in her sides she was pristine… a little TLC, and a couple of patches later, she’s ready to ferry the 1st battalion of The Winnowing Wind wherever they’re needed most…
So, I’ve said it before, and will probably say it again:
it is CRAZY that we know the colors and logo of every individual unit of every nation and mercenary company, but we don’t know the flags and logos of the national militaries nor the heraldry of the Great Houses.
“In Espinosa’s name!”

“VICTORIA LIVES IN DEATH!”
Obviously a WIP, but I do like that I’m resurrecting my Directorate-in-Exile OpFor project and anchoring it with a chic Gothic Crab

We’ve decided that Athena very much prefers fire-resistant armor for her point. One part tired of being set on fire for the umpteenth time. One part gleefully striding through an inferno with a manic grin on her face.
Now we just have to narrow down the choices
[medium] Salamander (anti-infantry)
Pros: maximum RIP AND TEAR
if the magnetic battle claws don’t get you, the 10 heavy machine guns at point blank will
Cons: only enough armor to comfortably fend off a medium-class laser
[medium] Elemental (fire) (AP Gauss)
Pros: pretty ubiquitous
very comparable to the standard Elemental suits she first started on
longest average range of all primary weapons
[heavy] Stormbird (Jade Falcon)
Pros: 2 points more armor than the Elemental
SRM3 with 4 rounds of ammo plus the same AP gauss
Cons: only a 60-meter jump distance
can’t make leg or swarm attacks against mechs
[assault] Ironhold (anti-tank)
Pros: enough armor to tank a gauss rifle or or clan ERPPC
double-fisting BA LBX autocannons means the point is packing effectively a pair of LBX 20s
Cons: SLOW, can’t jump, can’t ride on omnimechs
can’t make leg or swarm attacks against mechs
[assault] Golem (support)
Pros: 18(!) points of armor means you need an AC20 to oneshot one of these suckers and they can tank 3 inner sphere pulse lasers
2 anti-infantry mounts back up an Advanced SRM6 with 6 rounds of ammo. Meaning better range and better clustering than standard SRM launchers.
Faster running movement than any of the other battle armors
Cons: can’t jump or ride omnimechs
can’t make leg or swarm attacks against mechs
holy SHIT the escape mission sucks ass we have all these sldf mechs and the pilots SUCK we should have been coring mechs left and right but nooooo you have to miss a point blank called shot with all your weapons
I’m struggling to see a scenario where you don’t want to put a cockpit mod on your ‘mech… the free wounds are incredibly useful compared to just about everything else, given that most of the times cockpit mod has to intervene are when your pilot would be taken out of commission

Some 6mm elementals in a Clan Smoke Jaguar omega galaxy scheme, inverted grey leopard spots. Painted them up to match my mech star of CSJ with red/yellow accents for offensive operations. Prints by afterdark prints, stls by sir mortimer bombito. Think the choice of poses worked better on the right set with missiles than the left no missiles–more coherent advance instead of a scattering gaggle.
Rank: Lieutenant (Fire Lance Leader)
Age: 42 (born 2016)
BattleMech: Longbow LGB-7Q
Appearance: A woman of Chinese descent, Silvia Song stands 5'11" tall, and cuts her salt and pepper hair extremely short. Outside of her ‘Mech, she wears fatigue pants and a simple tank top, which shows off her well-maintained arm muscles.
Bio:
Born to destitute agricultural workers on Gei-Fu in the Capellan Commonality, Silvia Song always knew she needed to escape her home, feeling disdain towards the prospect of working fields for the rest of her life. As soon as she earned her citizenship, she applied to the planet’s Regional Training Center and was accepted to the vehicle training program. Not satisfied with that result, she convinced an administrator to squeeze her into the BattleMech program. She faced a lot of social friction due to her background, but she eventually gained some respect due to her ability to put in work and be cutthroat when she needed to. Having clawed her way to graduation, she gained a place in Ishara’s Grenadiers, a second-line regiment of the CCAF. She joined the unit as a replacement following the Andurien Wars, where the unit had just its first action since the Third Succession War. Silvia got sick of sitting in garrison with a bunch of “veterans” bragging about their victories and struck out with a few like-minded comrades (including fellow future Golem Laura Zheng) to form a mercenary lance called Song’s Sabres.
Silvia found the unit a decent amount of work in the Periphery, mostly hiring out of Herotitius, where she first met the Golems. She liked the strong energy that Alena Kusova brought to leading the unit, and she especially liked Leo Zweibel’s pragmatism, and they bonded over their experiences with the practical aspects of unit leadership. In 3041, the Taurian Concordat hired the Sabres and the Golems to clear a pirate base together, giving them their first chance to fight together. In 3050, Silvia lost two of her Mechwarriors when a job went south, so she and Laura Zheng traveled to Outreach to look for new opportunities. When Silvia heard the Golems were growing to a company, she immediately agreed to sign on as their third lance commander.
As a senior officer in the unit, she is integral to their operations, and Alena would absolutely consider her a successor if they weren’t of similar ages. Silvia has a rather gruff manner about her, and despite/because of that, she has managed to get young Madeline Wesley wrapped around her finger.
