I just started playing Pokemon Legends Z-A so IDK how the story goes.

But if AZ asked me to get on my knees and bark I ABSOLUTELY WOULD.

Az & Ren are my OCs (whomst i love very much) from my own personal story ‘We Dance With The Devil’!

i dont tend to draw fandom stuff often unless I find a way to insert my OCs into the universe ahahaha, so i COTL-ified them and turned them into lil followers to kind of smash 2 of my interests together.

similar to a follower like Webber, they technically are not from the COTL universe! they’re more like AU 'visitors’ to the lands of the Old Faith; they don’t have a backstory within the COTL universe. they’re kinda just there. they’d arrive to the cult as a package deal, like Jalala and Rinor!

as COTL followers, they’d be in a similar vein to the bishop followers. they’d keep their personalities, but neither of them would have their WDWTD powers. COTL follower Az can marry or be married to anyone, while follower Ren would have the restriction of only being able to be married to Az lol. if the Lamb were to try and marry him off he’d politely refuse you.

Az (they/it/she/he/whatever) is the titular Devil from WDWTD. Az thrives off of the emotions/energy of mortals, so they very much live up to their name and encourage all sorts of sin, trickery and hedonism. it’s not hard to see why they’d enjoy lurking around in your cult! they are an ancient shapeshifter, and they’re the source of both life & magic on the version of planet Earth in my story. they go by many names, but they have a particular fondness for 'Az’ because it’s what Ren calls them.

COTL follower Az would have the default traits Jerk/Hedonist/Lustful, and if married (to anyone) they’d also gain Lethally Jealous Spouse.

Ren (they/he) is another immortal, a celestial being (who happens to look vaguely fox-shaped) who is endlessly curious about everything and everyone, and asked the Devil to give them a humanoid body so they could better interact with mortals. Ren is in something of an on-again-off-again situationship… sort of thing with Az - who is unfortunately rather obsessed with him. as gods tend to be in many stories, Az is quite a possessive individual in general.

COTL follower Ren would have the default traits Strong Constitution/Unrepentant and a trait exclusive to him (like Webber’s Don’t Starve trait) 'Devil’s Advocate’ that makes him unmarriageable to anyone except for Az.

Flowers for Azriel

AZ glanced at Azriel—the baby still feeding in Engelle’s arms—before looking back down at Florian. He shifted his hold on his son, holding him close against his chest and letting him rest against his shoulder. His hand moved up—almost reflexively—to brush through the boy’s long ginger hair, a soft smile on his lips.

“That’s your little brother,” he replied, keeping his voice soft and gentle. “His name is Azriel. He’s still too small, but soon he’ll be bigger and you two can play together.”

“He can’t play now?” Florian looked up at his father with a curious expression on his tiny face. It was Florian’s first time meeting his new baby brother. At first, he wasn’t so thrilled about having to share his parents’ attention or time with the new member of the family, but after being reassured and included by his parents in everything, he decided to give having a brother a chance. Maybe it wouldn’t be that bad? He’d have someone to play around with, after all!

AZ chuckled softly, his hand still gently brushing through Florian’s soft hair. He glanced down at Azriel, his expression affectionate as he tried to explain. “Not yet. He’s too small right now. He needs to grow bigger first, but once he’s bigger you can play with him all you want. You have to be careful, okay? You need to be gentle with him because he’s very fragile. Understand?”

“Oooh.” Florian looked between his baby brother and AZ. “What does he like to do?” Florian could think of all kinds of things he liked to do, but he wasn’t sure if the baby was up to doing any of them. He loved playing with his favourite toys, eating, climbing over his parents, and going to the parks scattered throughout Lumiose City.

AZ chuckled softly, a fond smile tugging at the corners of his lips as he watched the boy’s curiosity. He shifted Florian in his lap. “Well, right now, all he really likes to do is cry, eat, and poop,” he replied, his tone half-amused and half-serious. “But when he gets a little older, he’ll start to explore and play. I’m sure he’d like to play with you.

Florian hugged his father. "Well, I like to eat and cry too!” It seemed Florian had some things in common with the newborn Azriel already!

AZ chuckled again, amused by his son’s comment. His hand continued threading through Florian’s hair, his touch gentle and tender. “Oh? You do, huh? I wonder where you get that habit from.” There was a teasing edge to his words, his eyes sparkling with a hint of affectionate mockery.

Florian held his plush eternal flower out to Azriel, who was too busy feeding to notice the offering. “Flower!” This plush was one of his favourite toys, so it was quite the gesture, willing to share something as sentimental as this plush.

AZ smirked, watching Florian hold the plushie out to his oblivious brother. He leaned down just enough to murmur in Florian’s ear. “He can’t see it right now, kiddo,” he said, “But he’ll appreciate the thought when he gets older.”

Because AZ was barely one for patience, he reached over and plucked Azriel from Engelle’s arms mid-feed and held him in front of Florian, who was sitting in his lap. “There. Now you can share your flower with him.” Engelle stared up at them with a surprised look on her face that read “what’d you do that for?” She didn’t protest taking a break from feeding Azriel.

Azriel started to squeal, wondering why there wasn’t anymore milk. His face srunched up and took on a reddish tint as he wiggled around distraught. AZ was very careful to support his delicate newborn frame; he adjusted Azriel carefully and securely against his chest.

“Shhh…” he murmured softly, his voice low and calming as he tried to soothe the baby. He could feel Azriel’s tiny fists clenching, grabbing at AZ’s chest as if he was trying to find more milk. AZ gently rocked the baby back and forth to try and calm him. “It’s alright, just breathe.”

Florian held out his flower plush again as a second attempt to share it with his baby brother. Azriel was still fussy from having his meal interrupted, but being in his father’s arms around his familiar scent settled him enough for the time being.

AZ watched as Florian tried to share the plushie again. His lips twitched into a small, fond smile at the sight of his two childrens’ wholesome interaction. He kept up his gentle rocking motion, the soothing rhythm almost second-nature at this point. Azriel kept squirming against his chest for a few more moments before his cries finally began to quiet to a few fussy whimpers. It was a small win but a win, nonetheless.

“Flower!” Florian showed Azriel the handmade eternal flower plush which was a cute replica of the eternal flower that AZ’s Floette liked to carry around. It had red petals and black designs on three of the larger petals, forming a tiny triquetra pattern around the black stamen poking proudly out of the centre of the plush. The stem was red like the petals of the flower.

AZ glanced down again, seeing the plush Florian was holding up. It was such a small, innocent act, the way Florian showed the toy to his baby brother. He chuckled softly, “very nice, kiddo.”

“Azzz-rell!” Florian tried to say his brother’s name as if trying it out to see how the baby would react.

AZ huffed a quiet laugh as Florian struggled to say Azriel’s name, the little boy sounding it out with all the seriousness of someone learning a new language. He reached over—still keeping one arm securely around his fussing newborn—and gently tapped Florian on the nose. “Close,” he murmured, “But it’s ‘AZ-ree-el.’ Try again.” There was something warm and affectionate about his tone that revealed a softness within, tucked behind his otherwise tall and intimidating exterior.

“Azzy-reel!” Florian did his best to repeat after his father. It wasn’t a common name at all, but he liked saying it because it sounded like his father’s name.

AZ couldn’t help but grin as he listened to Florian mispronounce the name. His attempt was far from perfect but for a toddler, it wasn’t bad. Still, he couldn’t resist teasing his son a bit further. “So close,” he said, shaking his head in a playful show of disappointment. “Try again. You can get it this time. 'A-Z-ree-el.’ Sound it out. Break it into syllables.”

“A-Z-reee-el!” He did his best and it was adorable hearing him try to sound out the new word each time. Florian didn’t mind it because it was fun to say in his head. “Flower for A-z-ree-el!” He held out the plush to the baby.

AZ huffed a soft laugh, his smile widening as he heard Florian successfully sound out the syllables. The infant was still a little fussy, but his whimpers soon quieted in favour of curiosity over the foreign plush toy. “That’s it, kiddo,” he murmured with a hint of pride in his voice. “You’re a fast learner. Got it on the third try!”

“I’m glad they’re getting along,” Engelle said with a sigh of relief. She reclined against the array of fluffy pillows behind her, enjoying her break from feeding the baby. “You have a very nice flower, sweetie. It’s kind of you to want to show it to your brother!” She smiled at her little family seated at the foot of the bed.

AZ glanced over at his relaxed lover. He felt something warm flicker in his chest as she encouraged the boys to share and meet eachother. A quiet affection settled over him like a cosy heated blanket. He adjusted Azriel slightly in his arms, letting Florian continue to offer his plushie to his baby brother despite knowing it wouldn’t do much yet.
