Some photos from last week. Usually deer will eat the one tulip that comes up in our brick planter. There’s a 50/50 chance I’ll actually get to see it open up. But, this year! Two blooms! And they both opened and I got to see them! Here they are! And that one really nice day last week I took myself to Finley Wildlife Refuge and came upon this fully blooming apple tree buzzing with all the honey bees. You can see a few in the picture if you look closely. It just felt like such a good day, that day. And the last photos are of the journal I altered and took to my space at @thefussyduck in Salem. I used a wonderful vintage wallpaper sample for the background/cover. And then embellished the front.

I’ve been trying my hand at oil painting over the last week and having loads of fun! It’s completely different to watercolour, so it really forces me out of my comfort zone. It’s certainly an exercise in working looser and faster than I do when doing detailed watercolour botanicals.
I loved using a palette knife to layer on thick blobs of paint to create form and highlights in these apple blossoms.

Curious to know what you think of this experiment with a different medium!
