I was at an AA meeting recently in my best emo attire (I was wearing a t-shirt that said “some people just need a pat on the back” with a graphic of a stick figure pushing another stick figure off a cliff), when I saw this totally awesome enby with red hair shaved on the side and a hoodie with “Emo’s Not Dead” written on the back (I was sitting behind them). Well, after the meeting I’m sort of on the way out and getting my coat on when Emo’s Not Dead Enby comes up to me and compliments my shirt. I was so flustered that I could only stammer out, “Thanks, I like your shoelaces.” After a slightly confused pause they just said, “Thanks, I stole them from the president?” Glad to meet cool people in recovery even when it’s awkward :3
