A big part of why I kamikazed my Facebook account through belligerent rageposting is because of the way sharing posts work (i.e. not transferring interactions to the original post, undermining any pretense for community), which Tumblr is currently trying to emulate even though no one asked and no one wants it. It fucking sucks, stop trying to be like Facebook. I’m literally happy here because of how much this website differentiates itself from Facebook, an AI slop hellsite polluted with ragebait and deliberate social disconnection. This change will absolutely lead to a degradation in post quality, you fucking imbeciles.

I thought it was hilarious but, to be honest, I’m not picking up on this at all. It’s true that my social life is a veritable wasteland, and I’m not a kid anymore, haven’t been since… since… well, since I was a kid so, maybe it’s true for the younger people? But I’m not running into many obnoxious gay people, if any. I would have to say that gay people seem more chill now than in the past. The vast majority I’ve encountered, if anything, complain about the..the..the.. we’ll say “prominence” of the Alphabet People. You know, the people who insist that they are NOT gay but rather one or more of an extensive assemblage of letters they tack onto the end of “LGBT.”

De echte tragedie van onze tijd? Constant verbonden, maar nooit echt aanwezig. Heb je ooit stilgestaan bij hoeveel tijd we verspillen aan het ‘aanstaan’ in onze telefoons? Het delen van een simpel bericht, wachten op die blauwe vinkjes… En dan? Nog meer piepjes, nog meer afleidingen.
We verzanden in een digitale wereld waarin we denken dat we verbonden zijn, maar eigenlijk staan we steeds verder van echt contact. We zijn zo verslaafd aan dat klingelende apparaat dat we vergeten hóé waardevol het is om echt te luisteren, écht te zijn.
En het ergste? We geven het niet eens meer door. We bouwen een muur van constant ‘aan’ staan. Tussen onszelf, tussen elkaar…
Laten we dit veranderen. Tijd voor bewustzijn. Tijd om de controle terug te pakken. Hoe ga jij je telefoon vandaag eens een tijdje laten rusten? Want misschien is dat precies wat ons écht verbonden houdt.
