These Cats Work at New York’s Bodegas
Some cats in New York City work behind the counter.
An estimated 30–40% of NYC bodegas have cats helping with pest control and keeping watch in neighborhood shops. Writer and cultural archivist Dan Rimada, founder of Bodega Cats of New York, has spent years documenting these working cats and the people who depend on them - work that eventually helped bring bodega cats to City Council.
His book ‘Bodega Cats of New York’ is coming out later this year.
