The next stop on my list was (and had been for a significant amount of time!) the Classroom. I drove past it every Wednesday and Thursday on my way home from uni, lustfully staring at the darkened lunchtime windows and dreaming about being cool enough to actually go in… but I’m one of those people who hate dining alone. On any other night it would be a forty/fifty minute trip to bring my lovely man friend and ain’t NOBODY got time for that!
Considering ot was so high up on my bucket list, desire overcame practicality and savings goals and my dear friends Destinee and Tyler came along for the journey, from the moment we stepped inside, the Classroom did nothing but impress with its decor and relevance to the theme - the bar side of the restaurant was pretty full - tables where patrons could use pencils to colour, Tonka dump trucks filled with a delicious looking food of some kind, a rack of backpacks above the door and the liquor shelving at the bar itself made to look like library shelves. There were blackboards on the walls, dim lighting, and what looked like very content, light conversation happening between the bar goers. We were lead to the restaurant side of things (thankfully, as we must have looked like three very lost individuals), which blew me away again. The entrance was set out to look like a giant old library; books lining the walls with large open windows - perfect and realistic down to the old brown leather style couches.
The next section (where we decided to sit) was comprised of old bus seats being the seating (which were very comfortable), a bike rack above the doorway - complete with bike - and a giant mural of a sexy, pinup style teacher covering the wall against where the tables were located. As far as theme and consistency goes, I was incredibly impressed!
The menus were set out in the form of a classic school binder, with lined paper containing the options. Between us we had the Royale with Cheese, the Pisky Sour cocktail, the Apple cocktail, chips, garlic bread, cider battered onion rings, and the winter crepes. The Royale meal was just great. The meal came out as two little burgers (Tyler and my reaction being HA! OF COURSE WE CAN EAT ALL THIS!) with hand made parties, cheese, pickle and a sweet bun. They were delightful, and surprisingly filling! Neither of us finished our burgers as a result. They also came with the onion rings - delicious when hot, but very oily feeling and greasy when left for a while (in my opinion). The garlic bread was to die for - served in the form of three little crusty bread…. Puffs for lack of a better word… Accompanied with olive tapenade and garlic butter. They were divine. I liked how we were in control of how much or how little garlic we put on, and also that it wasn’t just the generic Coles brand idea of garlic bread, served at $8 a pop.
The chips were exactly as chips should be - thick, battered and crunchy. The aioli (and yes I now know how to spell aioli, haha), was pretty good - perhaps could have been more garlicy:
The two cocktails were bloody delicious! There’s no other way to say it. If you do ever visit The Classroom , the Pisky Summer Sour is a must! The pricing was incredibly steep, but after living in perth for five years I have realised you will be expected to pay an arm and a leg for a decent cocktail… Or any cocktail really. This one only really cost an arm. But my god it was delicious! The crepes looked a bit on the small side, but I have it on good authority that they tasted realy really good. The waitress we had was amazing - she explained the process to us, took our orders quickly, was polite and lovely and remembered our table at the end. Overall, this place was incredible from the get go. The decor and theming was incredible and beautiful, and the food was delicious. If you’re wandering around Perth looking for a nice, chilled out place to go- make it The Classroom.
On Tuesday we partnered up with Fashion Group International to host their first ever event celebrating men’s fashion.
Men’s Style 101: Beyond the Suit & Tie featured some of Houston’s top men in fashion including Our Style Director Alan Javillonar, Suit Supply’s Training Expert Clinton Wagoner, Creative Consultant Vico Puentes, and Style Blogger Fola Lawson. The panelists discussed everything from style, grooming and what made them choose their career paths.
We had a wonderful turnout and a packed house for the event. The audience was very engaged and asked great questions. A big thank you to FGI for partnering with us to host a wonderful event and our sponsors Something Bespoke, K-ME Wear, and Remy Martin for providing the drinks.
All in all, it was a successful event and we appreciate everyone that came out. We continue to hope everyone who attended got something out of it and we look forward to our next event.
The White Tee SHOULD be an essential in every man’s wardrobe. Whether you decide to wear it by itself or as an undershirt, the white tee may be one of the most versatile pieces.
White tees are crucial here in the South because it’s hot practically year around. And no disrespect to the G.O.A.T. Michael Jeffrey Jordan, but if you plan to wear a white tee, step your game up and cop a luxury tee like this one from A.P.C. It’s 100% cotton with a crew neckline in narrow ribbing with an A.P.C. logo embroidered at the hem.
The key to looking good in a white tee is to make sure it’s clean and crisp. I MEAN HOW DO YOU PLAN TO GET PHOTOGRAPHED BY TOMMY TON IF YOU HAVE A MUSTARD STAIN ON YOUR TEE MY GUY?!? Also, make sure you have multiple white tees in your rotation especially if you happen to sweat a lot because nobody wants to see your deodorant stains in these streets.
If you need a point of reference, each of the guys pictured above straight killed it in a white tee. Whether you plan to wear it with denim, chinos or some shorts, like I stated above, just make sure it’s a clean. And if you’re prone to sweating, I suggest you wear another white tee underneath.
