When you miss Four Pins, you dig deep down to find inspiration to write something that piques your interest.  I, for one, would rather read Jon Moy eloquently describe how dope these pants are, but such is life. 

Call it a “Pleatwave”, but I’ve been seeing a lot of good iterations of the pleated pant being worn in New York, California and even in Houston. It’s been somewhat refreshing to see pleated pants being enjoyed by a wide range of people, both men and women alike. Even internet muse (I refuse to refer to anyone as a “hypebae”) Adrianne Ho is riding the Pleatwave.

Engineered Garments has masterly crafted its version of a pleated pant in the Willy Post Pant.  Seen below in Khaki Chino Twill, the Willy Post Pant sits high on the waist and features a slightly tapered fit.  Also featured are two front pleats, front slanted pockets and an adjustable rear cinch. What more can you ask for?

Join us at the shop this Thursday, April 21 from 7-9pm to celebrate the launch of the Genius Book Series. Open bar will be provided by Pura Vida Tequila, sounds audio styled by Mentoz, and Oh My Gogi! BBQ Food Truck will be parked outside serving dinner.

The Genius Book Series (gbs.) is a one-of-a-kind coloring book used to help expose undiscovered talent (i.e. artists) through a unique platform. The coloring book is an interactive medium, showcasing the artist’s work while providing an opportunity for the audience to collaborate with the artist. The audience, therefore, is not only a viewer, but an active participant and collaborator. Each book within the series will feature the work of a different artist.

With some of its proceeds, gbs. plans to donate art supplies to different charities and organizations for children throughout the Houston area. Its aim is to provide the tools needed to create a creative outlet for children at a young age.

The Long Shirt is having it’s moment thanks to the internet.

Whether it be online, on the streets or on your favorite blogger’s blog, Long Shirts are popping up more and more, and rightfully so because if worn correctly, the Long Shirt can be your go-to piece this Fall/Winter.

What I like about the long shirt is that it adds another dimension to your wardrobe. I’ve always liked this pic of Daiki up top and how he wears the long shirt underneath a shorter jacket. Proportions are key here and no one does the long shirt better right now than Engineered Garments in my humble opinion.

Each of these guys pictured up above are great examples/references of how to wear a long shirt. And who knows, if you buy this long shirt from Engineered Garments, you too can finesse your way into being photographed by Tommy Ton.

Tip #4 Can You Stand The Rain

I REALLY LOVE this Norse Projects x Elka 4 Pocket Parka which I paired with an Our Legacy Black Denim Shirt, UNIS Chinos, and a Lambswool Norse Beanie. WHAT’S NOT TO LOVE about this jacket designed in collaboration with Danish rainwear specialists Elka, the 4 Pocket Parka is constructed using a PVC/Polyester mix fabric which makes it COMPLETELY WATERPROOF. Utilizing a breathable lining as well as rear opening yoke, the jacket features a full zip and snap placket fastening, four flap cover snap closure pockets, a drawstring hood and adjustable snap cuffs.

While that’s nice and all, sometimes the only way to express your love for someone or something is through song. Here’s a song about this jacket that I REALLY AM FEELIN’ for those days when it’s cold and raining.  Tell me…CAN YOU STAND THE RAIN?

Tip #3 Keep It ON (Point) and Poppin’

Some times I wish I could travel back in time to 2007. Back when ‘Ye was ‘Ye…Lil Wayne was still a HUMAN, AAANNNDD Chris Brown was still CHRIS BROWN. Y’all know what I’m talking about? A time before he was covered in tattoos and dating Rihanna. A time when he was deemed one of the biggest stars in the world, rockin’ black leather Belstaff Jackets and jumpin’ from Wall to Wall. Breezy kept it “ON AAAAND POPPIN”.. Those were SIMPLER DAYS AND SIMPLER TIMES. Which leads me to Tip #3 KEEP IT ON (Point) and Poppin’.

As I’ve stated many times, Houston weather is UNPREDICTABLE. This Gitman Vintage Brushed Twill Shirt is a perfectly tailored longsleeve overshirt with just the right amount of pop for our winters. This shirt is finished in soft brushed twill with just a little heft to keep you warm on those days when the winter weather isn’t unbearable. When pairing this shirt with an outfit, I  suggest allowing the rest of the outfit to be rather subdued so that the shirt is the focal point. I like this Norse Beanie in Shitake as well as a pair of Vintage Khaki UNIS pants to complete the outfit and keep you ON (POINT) AND POPPIN’.

Tip #2 Don’t Sweat the Technique

My ideas are only for the audience’s ears…

I get it…I get it, not everyone wants to protect their necks this winter with a scarf, not because it’s deemed “UN-MANLY” because quite frankly I’m not sure most men know how to wear them (Google folks. G-O-O-G-L-E).

First and foremost, let me be the first to tell you that I LOVE SWEATERS. I mean there are days…by days I mean WEEKS during our Houston winters where a jacket isn’t necessary. For those days a sweater will suffice. This Gant Rugger Cablecito Sweater has me feelin’ some type of way. The cable knit comes in a nice shade of red that will embolden any casual outfit. Though the knit is quite chunky, the cotton-blend yarn ensures this sweater is fairly lightweight. I balanced the hue of the sweater with these Navy chinos from UNIS which I talk way too much about because they are THE TRUTH and a Merino Wool Top Beanie from Norse because it’s #luxe and your head only deserves da best.

This outfit is a real versatile outfit to step out in, in the H. Whether you’re stepping out at Kung-Fu Saloon to get #turntup or Cobra vs Mongoose for a more chilled atmosphere this look is sure to turn heads. TRUST, when that pseudo-hipster girl standing next to you at the bar (draped in brand names you can’t even pronounce) accidentally brushes up against you and is like WOW THAT SWEATER IS SO SOFT, you’ll thank me. Just DON’T respond to her by reciting the history of cable knit as well  as its intricate details of braiding, like one cable braid vs two cable braid. AANNNDD YOU MOST CERTAINLY DON’T TELL HER YOUR A BLAWGGER AND THAT FASHIONZ IS YOUR PASSIONZ. IT’S 2013 BRUH NOT 2009. Instead, tell her, THANKS and although this sweater looks good on me, it’ll probably look much better on you. If that got her attention, proceed by telling her that you’re a photographer and you take pics of women in men’s clothing and that you’d like to photograph her some time. Then give her your IG handle and tell her you have over 1k followers AND ARE MAADDD INFLUENTIAL IN THE INDUSTRY. I’M 99.9% SURE this will work…but if it doesn’t tell that PYT not to  SWEAT THE TECHNIQUE.
