Finally, PVA have their own sound. No more rehashes – no matter how proficient – of gothic synthpop and raving EBM; No More Like This steers away from brutal beats to precision. Ella Harris’ vocals relish each mouth movement, the instrumentals are so sparingly, gradually constructed, a little like trip hop in that it is a sort of ambient, undanceable dance music. No More Like This is also prone to being too pleased with itself, over-repeating and luxuriating – but wouldn’t you do the same if you’d finally settled into your thing?
