enjoying spindlehorse content, to any sort of degree, reminds me acutely of the fact that im not used to participating in active media (or, media that isnt complete).
its not like i havent before – cookie run and warrior cats are both ongoing (shockingly, for the latter), but the casts are big enough to where the guilt of canon deviation isnt nearly as strong. with cookie run, each game seemingly acts as its own universe, where some characters (like gingerbrave) are cross-universal constants and others arent. warrior cats fans might choose to stop taking canon into account after a certain series ends; theres established separations where one can simply… stop.
bioshock and mlp fim are both complete, allowing anyone engaged with it to go hog wild with very little guilt or grief.
hazbin and helluva dont operate under this same set of rules for me (unless the changes im making are so drastic that its excusable). the cast is large, sure, but its small enough to where you cant really pick and choose in good conscience. stuff that i felt relatively guilt-free about when the pilot or even season 1 was all we had has now been completely shut down with the completion of season 2; there are things that cant be headcanoned away without a hefty amount of side eye (i.e. basically the entirety of vox as a character and his relationship, or lack thereof, with alastor) because we know more now. we cant just assume for fun.
i think im starting to understand why people make ocs now.

What is Helluva Con?
Helluva Con is a convention revolving around all things Hellaverse (Hazbin Hotel and Helluva Boss). We are a fan convention, run by a very small team, and not associated with Vivziepop, Spindlehorse, Amazon, or any other existing entities.
As this is our first time hosting a convention, we’re planning a one day con, with the possibility for expansion in future years. We’re working with a very small budget, so for now, we will be focusing on fan- created content and programming, rather than booking celebrity guests (although we hope to be able to do so in the future).

Hazbin Hotel Season One Ultimate Premiere Package: Early access to the first two episodes via a24, one ‘Official’ Broadway Playbill complete with 'new’ artwork and exclusive cast and crew interviews, song lyrics, I think some sheet music too (and a few stickers packed inside) the entire collection of first wave gold enamel pins sealed in a protective collective box with a window, the entire first wave I think of collectable trading cards for season one, and one collectable key chain; all for the quirky and still somewhat reasonable value of like 106.66.
Hazbin Hotel Season Two Ultimate Premiere Package:… Basically what amounts to 200 dollars…. For basically a bunch of trinkets you can already get on shark robot + apparently basically a Spy Kids Watch….. Which is what I’m guessing most of that price point is going into making….. And they’re still trying to be quirky about it…. Then “VoxTek Spy Watch” comes out and looks like this:
