Yes I agree it was very funny of Louis to try to suggest that side by side was for the fans. But I do wonder if it was an All Along situation because I can’t see his team agreeing to release that. But he’d already told the fans it existed and that it was specifically for them so to not release it would have been more suspicious and it would have gone against his public image about being fan focused. So they released it in a format they had control of you can’t take back physical copies but you can delete a digital file. But Louis is well aware that we keep and share records hell, his baby pictures are constantly being circulated in the fandom. I have a feeling he intentionally brought attention to a track that has no deniability in a way his team couldn’t fight

For those who are unaware, Oda revealed in (I believe) Data Book Yellow that he heavily based Whitebeard on a man he knew, a gruff old bartender dependent on oxygen who liked to yell at whippersnappers and tell old war stories. Apparently the guy was delighted when Oda told him, and with that retrospect you can just tell in how Oda presents Whitebeard he respected him a lot.
There’s a quote from Oda in the SBS for volume 82 that suits Whitebeard particularly well, and it becomes especially poignant when you know he was based on a real person
