Ferrari F430 SP1 (#158865) ‘2008 designed by Fioravanti
The 2008 Ferrari F430 SP1 (Special Project 1, chassis #158865) is a one-off, bespoke supercar designed by Leonardo Fioravanti for Japanese collector Junichiro Hiramatsu, debuting around September 2008. Based on the F430 chassis and 4.3L V8 engine, it features unique bodywork, including 599 GTB-derived taillights, 430 Scuderia wheels, and extensive carbon fiber, focusing on a “feminine, sexy” aesthetic rather than raw track performance.
Details and Design Features
Significance: It was the first “one-off” special project produced under Ferrari’s Special Portfolio Program.
Designer: Designed by former Pininfarina designer Leonardo Fioravanti, who is famous for designing the Ferrari Daytona, Dino, and 308 GTB.
Commissioned By: Junichiro Hiramatsu, a Japanese businessman, former president of the Ferrari Club of Japan, and long-time admirer of Fioravanti’s work.
Engine/Chassis: Based on the stock Ferrari F430.
Design Elements:
Front: Features a slightly stretched nose with stock headlights, but with customized, more aggressive, and lower front styling.
Rear: Includes taillights taken from the Ferrari 599 GTB and integrated flying buttresses.
Bodywork: Extensive use of carbon fiber for the side skirts, mirrors, and roof to reduce weight.
Interior: While exterior panels are bespoke, the interior largely retains the standard F430 configuration.
Performance: The engine remains the same 490 PS (360 kW; 483 hp) 4.3L V8 from the standard F430.
The SP1 represented a shift for Ferrari, allowing clients to have completely original bodies built on standard platforms, paving the way for future one-off projects.
