In this varied series, stage 3 was the best of the lot.
After a route through key Flemish towns which took in neither of their big climbs, this one had more to keep you entertained.
Fewer highways, and more back roads with a lot of altitude gain built in.
I have had both hardware and software issues in the last week or so, which isn’t necessarily the fault of Rouvy or Van Rysel. But this route…
So a few quick fire thoughts on the F1 race in China yesterday.
- Congrats to young Kimi on his first ever F1 Grand Prix win. Amazing stuff for such a young guy @ 19years of age. He did is easy without trouble, no challengers really and having the car that Mercedes has for this season; he had little trouble. This kid has some talent, and we’ve seen it in bits and pieces last year. too early to say he’s gonna reach greatness. Time will tell. Let’s hope he learns from this great win and continues on!
- There has been a lot of talk about this generation of F1 cars, and opinions are very split on it; more on the negative than the positive especially for the drivers. A small group love it, the bigger group are grumpy. The one thing I noticed from this race and the Melbourne one is the dangers the drivers are taking just to beat each other. I’m worried we may see a very serious accident sooner rather than later.
- Ferrari are looking very exciting this year! The last few years has been difficult for this team but they may have finally found something that makes them more competitive and pushing others. Very cool to see. Its been a long time coming for the flying horse but we might be seeing glimpses of their return glory soon enough.
- Oscar’s nightmare. I cannot believe the shitty luck he has had tow races in a row. It is not like he’s at fault! Absolutely not and I feel for him. I, like probably many fans were looking forward to him having a better year than last year. But…that’s if he can even start a race!
- The flip side of Oscar’s luck is that of Norris. With his less than impressive showing from Australia and now a DNS it has to be questioned if his win last year really was legit. I mean talk about it has been on going anyway regardless of this year but it sure does make you wonder…..was Oscar actually properly robbed??!?!?!
- Max, oh dear this week not great. Last week wasn’t bad. He’s no having a fun time and he has made it clear this year is already getting on his nerves. Can you blame him? No. I hope he doesn’t give up though, sometimes ad luck happens and you just have to ride t through. He is…one of those guys whom can get very vocal and really let loose. There is always talk that one day (maybe closer than we thin) he will walk away form F1 for other things that’s peaking his interest. While that would be sad to see; perhaps for him it might do him so good to get away from it for a few months or a year? Come back refreshed.
don’t know how these new regulations are supposed to be fun and good when we get 6 people out each race
Guy Martin is probably best known to the public as a television personality who presents programmes about machines and engines. However, Martin is also one of the most charismatic riders to have competed at the Isle of Man TT despite never winning the famous race.
Guy Martin has long since retired from road racing, but his path into the sport was not always easy. He admitted that he used stimulants in the past. Not to enhance his performance on the bike, but simply to be able to work longer hours and earn enough money to fund his racing career.
As Martin explained.
“I wasn’t very good at school. I didn’t do very well, but for some reason I convinced myself that I was going to go to college. I think I lasted one term. Then I got an interview at the local Volvo truck garage and worked there. And I learned so much. They’d let me do anything – taking engines to bits, building engines, and I loved it. I could not get to work quick enough and we were earning great money – because I was doing 78 hours a week at 16. And that helps you save money to go motorbike racing.
I used to take drugs just to be able to work more. Because the more I raced, the more expensive it was, so the more I had to work. So I was working three nights a week down the docks after my day job. And I used to take ephedrine, caffeine and aspirin just to be able to work enough to earn more money to go racing motorbikes. That’s
how it was.”

It actually sucks that like Le Mans itself is actually quite cheap for the full week but the travel to there from anywhere other than Europe/the US makes it almost impossibly expensive to attend
Still trying to wrap my head around people from catering on track during an active session???

Fingers crossed for future of #85Racing and Mercedes collboration with Red Bull. If successful, this could change the face of Racing in China.

Już niedługo… 😼
