Don’t analyze the ‘realistic, complex character show’ if the complex characters acting complexly makes you upset.

Robby is an asshole. Al Hashimi is an asshole. Langdon is an asshole. Santos is an asshole. Mccay is an asshole. Garcia is an asshole. Whitaker is an asshole. Javadi is an asshole. Hell, even Mel- who is this fandoms go to ‘let’s infantilize’ character- seems to be acting like an asshole based on next ep’s previews.

That is the point. People are assholes, even the good ones. Watching and discussing completely good and morally correct characters are boring, let’s admit it. Assholes are fun.

On the flip side, don’t get upset when your favorite character gets criticized or their choices get analyzed in a way you do not agree with. We are all playing with dolls here, don’t freak out when someone says they don’t like your favorite Barbie

of course it’s the guy with the whitaker pfp talking nuance about robby but though i acknowledge robby’s shitbag misogyny and racism and evil jumping out in this moment, there was a moment there where robby very really and truly thought mohan had a heart attack in his ER and i imagine some of his lashing out was impacted by the fact he felt real fear about her safety and then, in the flood of relief when he realized she didn’t almost actually die, realized that it was a panic attack, which is something he sees as a moral failing (this is the evil part) and then lashed out at her in a way he would not have lashed out at whitaker his extra-special white boy. so though i am not fully on board the mohanavitch train for my own special reasons, i think there’s something there for y'all……

I was watching some Pitt reactions (as one does to pass the time til Thursday) and just noticed they foreshadowed the sigmoid vulvulus back in episode 5 when Santos and ogilvie are discussing differentials for the constipated patient.

Ogilvie: Sigmoid volvulus? But that’s a surgical emergency. Wouldn’t she have tons of pain? Santos: Not always. Especially when you’re in your eighties.

Just curious if anyone else caught that.

Robby is also just generally speaking being weirdly nice to Whitaker in a way that is definitely not and has never been effective but that makes him feel better about himself which is actually the thing that Whitaker seems to be responding to - Robby seems to like Whitaker but also Robby likes giving things to Whitaker (a bunch of cases, whitaker’s badge, a key to his home, double first bumps, a lot of positive reinforcement) like a cat presenting dead animals to it’s dumb human owner as a way of feeling like a provider because it makes him feel better about the fact that at one of his lowest most shameful moments Whitaker was the one who had to get him back on his feet and make him a man again. Except Whitaker is lowkey mouselike with it, so it didn’t ever quite emasculate Robby the way it should have and now there’s this weird like. Fascination instead. And Whitaker doesn’t get a lot of focused attention so in the moments that he does, he’s just reacting to the fact that he’s receiving it, instead of the fact that it is actually not that helpful. Which is what I like to see :)
