‪BladeoftheSun‬ ‪@bladeofthes.bsky.social‬ on BlueSky:

It’s believed that Iran is using IP address tracking and phone signal triangulation to target missiles at Israel’s high command which is why Netanyahu and others are missing and not using devices which could locate them. The question is are they even alive?

As Israel already know most phones can be constantly tracked to within 5m even when they are turned off, and phones can be identified by getting within a few hundred meters of them using spoofing devices that pretend to be phone towers.

My phone is turning 20 this month! 🎂

It was released in March 2006, it has monochrome display, a speaking clock, unfortunately no radio, and according to Wikipedia, it was aimed for first-time mobile phone users. Also, in normal use it’s battery lasts about 2 weeks (which is great because I never remember to charge it)

150 years ago today, Alexander Graham Bell conducted his first successful experiment with the telephone.

He reportedly shouted into the phone: ‘Mr. Watson — come here — I want to see you.“

What if your smartphone’s camera wasn’t locked to the back of the device? Honor’s Robot Phone, which we got to see in action at MWC 2026, features a camera attached to a stabilized gimbal arm that can pop-up and look around. But it’s still permanently tethered to the phone. The RugOne Xsnap 7 Pro, a new rugged phone from Ulefone, lets you pop out one of its rear cameras and use it as a standalone…

Its shiny black surface hides unknowable horrors that threaten to drain the soul of its holder even as it openly seeks to suck the life force of everything around that it can, whispering deceptive promises in its bearer in the hopes of sating its ever present hunger

Despite it all, its wielder clings to this darkly sentient obsidian object for dear life

Idk I’ve been listening to Moorcock’s Elric of Melnibone books recently and if they were published more recently than the 70s I’d probably assume the black blade Stormbringer was a metaphor for phones
