recently:
murdoch’s a fairly honourable defeat
- 50 pages in, for some parts i found it a little rough but there are some silvers of genuinely brilliant writing (‘my love is never without anxiety, though simon, never without pain.yet perhaps this pieceful quality is inseperable from my happiness […] this constant condition of ecstatic pain.’ / 'axel was often maddeningly abstracted from the urgencies of the present’) it’s obviously hard to make strong judgements based on the bare introductions of some characters, but in some parts i found the characters uncompelling, and didn’t really want to engage further with them. my favourite is simon.
wilson’s the odyssey
- what the actual fuck
- should’ve got on this train earlier
- singlehandedly made me want to read and engage with every epic in existence. im extremely glad that i decided to pick up martin’s metamorphoses while i did the odyssey. cannot wait to read both that and the aeneid (speaking of which – lombardo or fagles? i read antigone by fagles and i thought it was really disparagingly mediocre. however it is the most convenient to get because every bookstore has become (frustratingly?) vulnerable to fagles. im willing to bend, but i would HATE to think about lombardo constantly when reading fagles)
- telemachus is my favourite. im upset he disappears as odysseus comes into the picture. waiting for the boy to come back. i need to embrace him
- the scene paralleling odysseus + telemachus crying under their cloaks of purple has still not left my mind to put it frankly IM GOING INSANE
- never had alcohol and don’t plan to but i feel it would be great for a drunk reading

hyun-jong’s weightlifting fairy kim bok-joo
- yes i do note the very abrupt change from reading 'dignified’ books to 'undiginified’ shows. LET ME HAVE THIS
- extremely cute
- loved the weightlifting team interactions
- also suprisingly enjoyed seeing the gymnastic team interactions! i love si-ho :)
- preferred when they were not together. i dunno i think they could’ve made the confession better. also got tired of them when they fake-dated. ADORABLE but lord
- slightly annoyed how they say her face is 'mediocre’ yet the actor is a model. a message of the show is 'dont worry about standards’ yet weirdly they still conform to them?
- this review seems too strongly negative so i? would like to clarify that yes i did spend the whole day watching the show while sick and did indeed enjoy the show a lot and this may have been a contributing factor to my 'tiredness’ of the couple.
acquirre-sacasa’s riverdale
- i don’t understand why everyone hates s3??? it’s like the best thing ever. what was so bad about it? i still don’t understand. it wasn’t THAT weird.
- NO EXIT is my favourite. holy fuck. second favourite episode is THE RED DAHLIA. NOIR jughead WHERE WERE YOU IN MY DARKEST TIMES!
- not gonna lie s5 was my personal least favourite.
- watching s7. missing jarchie. they need more interactions NOW im losing my hope for the longcon
- GAY JUGHEAD
- homosexual archie and betty
^ i feel like the thing with agent drake will make a comeback. gay betty will make a comeback
- should be noted how when talking of riverdale i am getting visibly unstable. this is why i don’t talk about riverdale because its radioactive to me.
- the jughead paradox im going to kill myself that was so good.
- i miss hiram when am i going to see my boy hiram. also fingers crossed skeet ulrich will appear in the last episode. he was so hot in scream
- thought this week’s episode (s7ep3) was a little weak though. got progressively very bored. loved jug though + I AM WAITING AVIDLY for the lavender marriage of charchie.
sorkin’s the newsroom
- like my third rewatch. sorry but it is THE show ever made
- noted as sorkin’s 'worst’. again sorry it’s my favourite of his
- i swear every time i hear sorkinism without consent i also speak sorkinism too. just a brain thing i guess
- would love to be a sorkin character and monologue CONSTANTLY and be given many opportunities to make a snarky comeback. oh what i would do
- politics are not the best to say the least though i did enjoy the tirades on how we should do journalism! a number of those monologues were facile and sort of stupid was fun to hear sorkinism dialogue though
- reese lansing helloo there.
- i can’t believe im rooting for a man named jim but here we are. WOOO JIM AND MAGGIE
- jim and maggie are my favourite. evidently
- jim + maggie peak was season 1 unfortunately.
- got woefully obsessed with those two. rocking my chair as i speak thinking about the sex and the city scene constantly
- you can’t help but like mackenzie. however i am unable to understand her. what was with that cambridge thing
- everytime i see dev patel i think of neal. this is unfortunate when i watch movies with him inside. was handsome then and is handsome now
- sometimes sorkin makes will have the strangest political views and reveals them at even stranger times even though they make little sense
- painfully obvious that will is a self-insert of sorkin. whatever
- mess of a show. but it’s MY mess of a show.
