MacBook Neo 2: perché il touchscreen non arriverà
La questione del touchscreen su MacBook Neo 2 ha preso una piega piuttosto curiosa nelle ultime settimane. Quello che sembrava un aggiornamento praticamente certo per la seconda generazione del laptop più economico di Apple si è trasformato prima in un forse, poi in un probabilmente no, e infine in un no secco. Una parabola discendente rapidissima, il tutto nel giro di poche settimane.
A dare il colpo definitivo alla possibilità è stato Mark Gurman di Bloomberg, nella sua newsletter Power On pubblicata oggi. Secondo il giornalista, Apple non ha ancora deciso se portare il supporto touchscreen su altri Mac oltre al prossimo MacBook Pro di fascia alta, che dovrebbe arrivare tra la fine del 2026 e l'inizio del 2027. Il punto è abbastanza semplice: aggiungere uno schermo touch farebbe lievitare, anche se di poco, i costi di produzione di MacBook Neo, un portatile che parte da appena 499 dollari. E quando il prezzo è così aggressivo, anche un piccolo aumento conta eccome.
Gurman non ha usato mezzi termini. Ha dichiarato che sarebbe “scioccato” se un touchscreen arrivasse su MacBook Neo nei prossimi tre anni. Una frase che lascia poco spazio all'interpretazione.
Da sì a forse a no: come è cambiata la narrazione
Vale la pena ricostruire la sequenza. A settembre 2025, l'analista Ming-Chi Kuo, uno dei nomi più affidabili quando si parla di previsioni su Apple, aveva indicato che la seconda generazione di MacBook Neo “potrebbe” includere il supporto touch. Un'apertura cauta ma concreta. La settimana scorsa, però, lo stesso Kuo ha ridimensionato tutto, dicendo che la cosa “potrebbe non accadere”. E adesso Gurman ha chiuso la porta completamente, almeno per il momento.
Questo tipo di dietrofront non è poi così raro nel mondo delle indiscrezioni tech, ma è significativo perché coinvolge due delle fonti più autorevoli del settore Apple. Quando sia Kuo che Gurman convergono sulla stessa direzione, di solito ci si può fidare.
Cosa aspettarsi comunque dalla seconda generazione
Nonostante l'assenza del touchscreen, una seconda generazione di MacBook Neo dovrebbe comunque arrivare il prossimo anno, stando alle previsioni di Kuo. L'aggiornamento principale riguarderebbe il processore: si passerebbe dal chip A18 Pro con 8GB di RAM del modello attuale a un nuovo A19 Pro accompagnato da 12GB di RAM. Un salto che, sulla carta, potrebbe fare una differenza notevole soprattutto per chi usa il laptop con carichi di lavoro un po’ più impegnativi o con le funzioni di intelligenza artificiale che Apple sta spingendo sempre di più.
Il passaggio da 8 a 12GB di RAM è particolarmente rilevante perché proprio la quantità di memoria era stata uno dei punti più criticati del primo MacBook Neo. Con 12GB, il portatile avrebbe margini molto più ampi per gestire il multitasking e le funzionalità legate ad Apple Intelligence.
Resta quindi un prodotto pensato per essere accessibile e leggero, senza fronzoli premium come il touchscreen, che per ora Apple sembra voler riservare esclusivamente alla fascia alta della propria gamma di portatili.

This MacBook Neo has been upgraded to 1TB
YouTube channel DirectorFeng has posted a video demonstrating a 1TB storage upgrade to the newly release MacBook Neo.
They state ‘We directly upgraded the 256GB storage to 1TB, completing pad treatment, storage reballing, system flashing verification, BGA encapsulation and curing, as well as reapplying CPU thermal grease. The 1TB upgrade was fully successful, the system flashed perfectly, and the read/write speeds got a slight improvement — we’ve built the official 1TB version that Apple hasn’t launched.’
We can later see the write and read speeds of the disk, 1,551 MB/s and 1,506 MB/s respectively.
While an upgrade like this is undoubtably for experienced technicians with the right tools, it would have been nice for Apple to provide a 1TB option.

Why does Monica talk when she summons the Wind Spirit King?
Attention! I only watched the anime The Secret of the Silent Witch, Season 1.
Monica Everett is one of the Seven Sage, known as Silent Witch. In the world that she lived in, they have to talk when wanted to cast magic.
But Monica can cast magic without chanting a spell.
So now is known as the Silent Witch.
But in episode 8, Monica summons the Wind Spirit King while she’s talking.
Most of the viewer and AI explanations say that she talks because she was using a great power in that time. But in the episode 1, she summons a same gate, but different result.
In the episode 4, when Monica killed the Earth Dragon, Neo, the familiar and a cat, said to Monica something like “You don’t get nervous when I transform in human” and Monica said “Oh… that right…”
I think when Monica summons the Wind Spirit King in episode 8, wasn’t to gain more power. But she doesn’t get nervous for chanting the spell with people there. Is more symbolic than power.
When her father died, she went to a familiar of her, but they didn’t want to stay there.
So, the moment she speaks may not be about magic power, but about Monica being brave around people.

Keyboard: Needs backlight
Camera: It’s fine for whatever. Look, nobody is putting you on a 4K video stream anyway.
Screen: It’s good enough for literally everything.
Trackpad: yeah it’s great. You can click by just tapping anyway so….?
