So there was this guy I had a crush on who had this very distinct (and kinda pungent) smell sometimes. It was a sharp, starchy mildew. It was familiar, but I couldn’t put my finger on it. Like, it trailed behind him too, which sucks because I often was behind him walking to my next class.
Obviously, I wasn’t going to ask, “Hey what musk do you put on in the morning sometimes so I can avoid ever gifting it” because that would be rude and maybe he just couldn’t shower the few nights prior or something.
I smelled something similar, but not as “strong” while grocery shopping a few days ago, but I still couldn’t figure out exactly what it was.
Just yesterday, I was doing dishes and cleaned out the food trap for the sink drain and I instantly recognized the smell….
My crush smelled like water-boarded baked chicken, dish water, a single star anise, and old sushi.
