This is from one of my December Drabble microfics. Three, my OC ComfortUnit, and Murderbot shout into the void. Mostly, I wanted to practice varied poses and backlighting. (Sometimes I draw TV Murderbot, but this one is my design).

People love to recommend media to me in various forms - they are generally right with their choices, its just… well… it took me two years to read a novella once - and then it became my fav scifi series - so be warned

I’ll never get over every time either it’s pointed out or I have a realization about just how much of an unreliable narrator mb is. One example is how it calls itself cheap over and over again, and it seems like a lot of readers believe it. But then everything we learn about the company is about how expensive everything is. And how you don’t want to fuck with them bc they will take down pretty much any other company in the CR. And sure, other corporations have a handful of SecUnits, like BE, but it seems like the company has an army of them with how paranoid mb is about running into a company SecUnit.

Then you have another POV in Home that finally gives us a glance at how SecUnits are viewed by someone other than mb. Mensah understands that SecUnits are very expensive as something to exist. While that doesn’t make their existence, and enslavement, any better, it’s just an interesting example of how reading 7 books of a narrator telling you something to be true bc it believes it’s true can be so convincing if there isn’t a.) enough world building to give you the tools to think around it and/or b.) another character to point out “hey wait, that’s kinda fucked up”

Gentle reminder that the “act like a human” code does not affect its face or basic body language. All the code does is adds those little human irregularities that come with having organic bodies that gotta tic and twitch.

If I read one more depiction of “bc of the act like a human code my face did x” I’m gonna lose it. It’s been a person for 20+ years, it’s part human, it’s an unreliable narrator , give it some credit I beg of you
