rexmark and loustat are the two mlm ships i absolutely adore and are constantly thinking about right now and I might consider writing male on male smut for them finally. i’m extremely familiar with wlw and het sex because i’m a woman who likes both femme and masc, but it’ll be a fun challenge to actually write a mlm smutfic for a change. Invincible S4 is certainly going to be more slugfest, but for just a moment, what if it wasn’t?
What if there is no need for Mark to be “Invincible” anymore? Mark is basically forced to be “Invincible” because there is no other alternative, other than Earth being toast.
But with the onset of Cecil’s sound tech, Play it right and the Viltrumite invasion can be quickly neutered.
The weight is lifted off Mark’s shoulders. It’s been this looming threat this whole entire time for Mark and suddenly the rug is pulled from under him.
Cecil doesn’t need Mark in the same way anymore. Mark could push buttons and had a lot more leeway because of his “last hope” status. Now he isn’t as valuable anymore.
Mark himself, this time is on the back foot, because Cecil has the means to easily subdue him, should the director feel the need.
What does hero-ing mean to Mark when he has to play by someone else’s rules just like everyone else?
I think for one thing this change would necessitate Mark being more social with the teen team. He would definitely need their back up just like when Cecil first tried to use Mark’s sound weakness against him.
And what better way for Mark and Rex (not dead in this verse) to become closer~❤️ and do some self discovery about heroism together 😌

Sort of tossing it around in my brain today today, but it’s pretty hard not to find Rex’s funeral jarring in tone, which I think is a pretty non controversial opinion.
Some of it was budget, yes, (unmoving un-emoting PNGs 😅) BUT today I decided to look at the comic to see what it did differently because I was like “no way it’s the same because it was so bad” and what I discovered is that it’s actually pretty faithful. TV Mark’s actions are basically 1:1 in the comic.
Still just Steamrolling Eve’s vulnerable confession, just like he did in the show. Honestly it felt like he didn’t even go to the funeral to mourn Rex, but to support Eve.
If Rex and Mark weren’t that close I say fair enough, that is quite reasonable for an SO to do when it comes to supporting their partner. The unreasonable thing is he really didn’t truly support Eve in this moment and in doing so basically did both Eve and Rex’s funeral a major disservice.
This is a very curious instance of unintentional cruelty, of Mark putting himself above even the one he loved and not giving a single ounce of care about the death of another human being because they didn’t happen to be in his inner circle to mean much to him . A neat to hint to the reflections of the evil variants in Mainline Mark.
But also giving credence to my personal belief that as Mark’s problems become galactic scale, he loses more aspects of his “humanity”. (Whether this is intentional or not by the writers I’m not sure 🧐) Segway-ing into my other belief that MarkRex is great because Rex IS PAINFULLY human which I think would be a lovely tether for Mark and their bro-ship is cute ❤️
