this is a little outdated– e.g. “my clients” implies that there are/have been/will be clients other than Kaspar, which I’ve long since decided is very untrue not to mention samiel before I decided he had sleeves dugjdtfgskeg– but I don’t think it’s glaring enough to redo so oh well.

With Der freischütz(abno)’s story being an edgier version of the opera, I figured it only fitting to include (edgier versions of) the other characters as well ✨

- **Contract initially replaces Attachment. Attachment will become available once an agent has signed the contract, and remain as such until the client’s soul is reaped and/or they are otherwise lost permanently. Contract may become available prematurely if the client loses the gift, allowing them to recover it (no other agent may be assigned to this work in this case).
- **After the Contract is signed, Sacrifice replaces Repression. As long as there is a sacrifice on call, Repression will be available again.
Tips
- Der Schwarzejäger refused to participate in attachment work unless an agent had signed his contract.
- Those who signed Der Schwarzejäger’s contract were granted a powerful weapon, and their combat skills improved. Those who were below level 4 died shortly afterwards. The same thing happened when the agent’s temperance was below level 4.
- When the client died, Der Schwarzejäger reaped their soul as payment. Otherwise, he did so at the end of the week.
- Please be advised that agents whose souls had been reaped by Der Schwarzejäger were not revived by rewinding to the memory repository. Retrying the day, however, worked as usual.
- Der Schwarzejäger agreed to delay the collection of the client’s soul in exchange for a sacrifice. When the sacrifice’s level was lower than that of the client, he reaped the department’s clerks afterward as a supplement.
- When the work result was Good, agents with temperance 3 and below panicked.
- When the work result was Bad, the agent panicked.
Breaching
Der Schwarzejäger does not breach. His primary mechanic is the Contract. Basically, the agent who signs it gets a souped-up version of Magic Bullet but cannot be revived by the memory repository and will disappear for good at the end of the week unless a steady stream of Sacrifices is maintained. Sacrifice work kills the sacrifice permanently but allows the client to pass one week or revive from a repos one time without disappearing.
Gear: “Fine Print”
Suit: 0.7R/0.5W/1.2B/0.8P, WAW, +3 dmg on the corresponding weapon
Weapon: 15-19P, ALEPH, very long range, normal speed, requires corresponding gift
Gift: Hand 1 slot, HP+2, Justice+10
The gift and weapon are granted automatically upon performing Contract work, replacing (although not destroying) whatever the agent had before. The weapon can be unequipped but cannot be assigned to anyone without the gift. Removing/replacing the gift does not remove the agent’s status as the Client.
Story

“It’s simple, really. For forty moons, you’ll have my power at your disposal. Strength, wealth, fortune– whatever it is that you need, it will be yours– granted you make clever enough use of your new assets. All I ask in return is that when your time is up, else at the hour of your death, you give your soul up to me…”

We sent in agent after agent, but any attempt to converse with the abnormality ended with a binding contract. Each agent was given a powerful weapon, but shortly after signing, they disappeared, one by one. Eyewitness reports claim that they were bitten to death by snakes, however, we must call the credibility of such accounts into question– after all, there are no snakes in this facility.
In order to further investigate this phenomenon, the head of the Information team suggested an experiment. [REDACTED] of the Control team, selected for their wit and vigilance, was assigned to work with the abnormality. They were instructed to try to bargain for a new contract, one which might protect them from disappearance.
The Safety team kept close watch over [REDACTED] after they signed their contract. After 24 hours without any apparent complications, the attempt was deemed a success.

Therefore, [REDACTED] has been given full authority to carry out whatever special work is needed in order to maintain their contract, the details of which are not relevant to third parties such as yourself. Behaviour shifts and suspicious activities should be waved off as mere side effects.
Please remember that Lobotomy Corporation places great value in the success of its employees. Any attempts to interfere with or otherwise undermine [REDACTED]’s special work are harmful to our goals and will be dealt with accordingly. With this in mind, we ask that you do not share your conspiracy regarding agent Paul’s disappearance with your colleagues, lest it lead to more nefarious rumors. We would like to reiterate that Paul was dismissed from his duties after being deemed unfit for work. Any additional details you may have heard or concocted are nothing more than hearsay, and should not be taken for truth. After all, there are no snakes in this facility.

The redacted agent in the story log is probably not Kaspar, considering they were said to possess “wit and vigilance” 💀. That said, I don’t have any specific vision of who they are instead.
