if you were watching. which is something you guys saw in the story during the halloween party; kean is more than happy to go along with captain’s accusations and assumptions if it means something to you. he knows it drives you crazy, he wouldn’t do it if you didn’t care - but you do, more than you should. ultimately, it’s just a means of keeping your attention on him.

if captain never left kean at graduation, the relationship would have been really dysfunctional as both of them would’ve been extremely codependent. both of them would oscillate between obsession and hurting the other in the way only someone who loves you can. their lives after grad would also look very different, in the sense that they’re the sort of people who need time apart to grow into their own. if they’d stayed together, they would have begin to blur into the same person.
