Okay, I’d like to raise a different issue here than in the posts I’ve seen. Of course, I’m disgusted that Heatcliff was whitewashed. It’s as if it was clearly stated in the first pages of the book that he was dark-skinned. But of course, we can’t portray him as he was in the original novel because clearly, the ideal white male still lingers in the director’s mind.
However, I would like to raise another important issue.
The trailer already showed a focus on the romantic relationship between Catherine and Heatcliff. Declarations of love, kisses, hugs, “love above all else.”
Anyone who has read the original novel knows it’s bullshit.
Heatcliff is literally Satan. Manipulative, selfish, violent, a murderous psychopath. I’m not exaggerating. And I fear that the director of this film has other plans and will change Heatcliff’s story. He will be portrayed as an incomprehensible romantic who will do anything for his beloved. The fact that he abused and beat his own child and stepchild, made several attempted murders, imprisoned people against their will, blackmailed them into marriage, and committed many other atrocities, which those who have read Wuthering Heights will be aware of.
I swear that if I see in the cinema that Heatcliff was made into an innocent romantic who was hurt by life and simply loves his beloved - I will throw up

Haunted hotel ship tier list!
(all my opinion)
Explanation for each of why they are in that tier!
Burn: Katherine x Esther, Katherine x Ben, Nathan x Ben, Nathan x Esther.
Um. No, look I’m all for writing what you want without censorship, but Katherine doesn’t feel like someone who would do such things to her children at ALL. She is way too kind hearted for that and just doesn’t seem that mentally unwell (Nathan low-key might though) however I also don’t see Nathan doing such a thing. Sure he’s very mentally ill but he doesn’t seem like such a monster that he’d do such things to his niece and nephew. He definitely struggles with boundaries (as seen in that cinnamon scene) but it feels completely unintentionally, plus I firmly believe that he wasn’t nearly as creepy when he was alive and that being stuck in hotel property has just drove him a bit insane.
In short, no. I can’t stand it.
Not unless it’s toxic/not healthy: Katherine x nathan and Esther x Ben.
Ok so, this isn’t shipping in the “I want them to kiss and be gushy together” tier. It’s “obviously a relationship between these two would be ethical but seeing how these characters would hypothetically deal with such a scenario is interesting” tier.
Hypothetically, if Katherine fell for her brother or vice versa. I think it would be very interesting (and gross lol) to see how they would adjust to that predicament, I feel like Katherine would be a nervous wreck and overflow herself with work and even past burning herself out over it due to stress and disgust with herself. And Nathan I feel like would either
A. Isolate himself and practically go missing/mute.
OR
B. Be so overwhelmingly cheerful and optimistic that his family low-key begins to get concerned and start to worry about him.
Either way, while I don’t want it to be canon, it would be interesting.
Same sorta thing implies to Esther and Ben, I think the idea if disgusting and if it ever was canon I might overdose on bleach/hj
But in fanfiction it is a interesting concept that is worth exploring in a safe way, enough said.
Don’t hate, don’t love, neutral: all the bens together, Ben x abaddon, pk x nathan, and Ben x randy.
Considering the Ben polyamory is canon (Ben is a self love icon fr fr) we actually have material to work with, their kissing scene was both hilarious and charged (unfortunately for the audience and Katherine’s vision) but eh, I’m not a big fan. Maybe it’s just because I’m not a big polyamory guy but I cant imagine anything that cute or healthy being a long term option here (plus i mean the other Ben’s did try to kill him so.. toxic yaoi much?) eh, it’s alright.
Ben x abaddon is, well I don’t have anything to really describe it. They have very few scenes together (hopefully that changes in season two) and the two main scenes we have of them together is either them calling eachother brothers or Abaddon calling Ben Cory (wheeze) so i don’t see much chemistry or potential imo. I mean, deranged apathetic demon and awkward teenage boy? (*Cough cough* GRAVITY FALLS *cough cough*) I don’t see much to fan girl over, its boring to me.
Pk and Nathan is a ship I get due to the fanart and their dynamic being onscreen for most of randy slasher (took me a embarrassingly long amount of time to realize why the episode was called that) but idk, I don’t see the big deal. I get it’s a popular ship but since pk doesn’t have any dialogue to bounce off Nathan’s words it feels like there’s a lack of any dynamic there. Meh.
Ben and Randy I really just don’t care for, I fully support and LOVE the idea of them being best friends, but that’s it (plus imo I’m pretty sure randy is too old for Ben)
Cute! But not my favorite: abaddon x Esther, Nathan x the priest, Nathan x abaddon.
So, I’m ngl I mostly just ship Esther and abaddon due to the ABSOLUTELY adorable fanart I’ve seen floating around online (IT’S A VICTIMLESS CRIME!) and omgg wait guys why do I low-key love it. Listen, it’s not my favorite since I mostly just see them as siblings/best friends, BUUUT, the fact abaddon went back in time over a hundred times (to the beginning of EVERYTHING mind you!) is undeniably true love (platonic or otherwise) the potential between these two if given the right attention and written with the right circumstances could be AWE INSPIRING, super cute.
Nathan and priest have no canon interactions so I don’t have much of a opinion since yk, there is no dynamic between them yet, however the fanart I’ve seen of them is super cute and I hope they get to interact in the future!
Nathan and abaddon. I won’t deny I didn’t even give this shit any mind or even consider it, but I’ve seen some fanart by a Tumblr user of a humanized Abaddon x nathan and BOY, I low-key it now, I low-key get it. A apathetic monotoned demon x a cheerful bubbly human kinda has me in shambles in a little bit. They’re two one on one scenes is an argument and Nathan comforting Abaddon. I mostly just see these two as friends/father and son but I won’t deny there is possibility for more if given the chance.
I need it to be canon asap: Annabelle x Ben, Esther x heather, and Katherine x abaddon.
First off, Annabelle and Ben is straight up just canon (haha.. get it? “Straight” up? Because.. because their hetero?) I’m so lame well I LOVE these twos dynamic, Ben is very awkward and uncertain while Annabelle is more assertive and open about what she wants (we see this perfectly in ghost hunters) they play off eachother super well and I get the biggest grin when their own screen together. “aw’s” all around when I see these two
Esther and heather is a fairly popular ship and for good reason. They have a established friendship, Esther is more aggressive while heather is calm, Esther is “street smarts book dumb” and heather is “street dumb and book smarts” plus Yuri ofc I get it completely, and I am under the firm belief that Esther has some sort of subconscious crush on heather that she’s currently unaware of. 10/10
Ok, so, I know this one is a big unorthodox, BUT GOD DAMN IT I WILL DEFEND THIS SHIP WITH MY BLOODY LIFE. But Katherine x abaddon if abaddon was just in a different vessel/his actual form would be UNBELIEVABLY CUTE. I already made a post ranting about why I ship these two so check that out if you haven’t but I’ll just summarise.
Katherine is a stressed, overworked woman trying to be seen as presentable to be liked. Meanwhile abaddon is a apathetic deranged demon who gives zero shits for how society views him. They have this dynamic already of “I can fix him/I can make her worse” (at least have way already do) and it’s so entertaining to see. I can totally see Katherine slowly bonding with him and when she grows a crush she’s just in a complete panic. Mark my words if the vessel was a adult and there were no barriers other people would ship this just as intensely as I do
And I really hope we get to see their relationship expand in season two, because even though I acknowledge it’ll never be canon (I’d have to wish upon a star for that to be the case lol) I absolutely love their dynamic regardless of whether it’s romantic of platonic.
