Pengalaman Pertamaku Dalam Latihan Kader Himpunan Mahasiswa Islam yang Tidak Sampai Akhir
Aku mau cerita nih, tentang Himpunan Mahasiswa Islam, khususnya Komisariat Institut Agama Islam Negeri (IAIN) Manado. Karena konteksnya di Indonesia jadi teman-temanku yang bukan orang Indonesia bisa lewati saja apalagi ini agak panjang. Ini jika tidak aku ceritakan mungkin tidak akan ada pernah tahu dan menjadi pelajaran padahal sangat penting karena berkaitan dengan kesehatan fisik peserta untuk mengikuti latihan kader (LK). Walaupun ini sebenarnya pengalaman pribadiku namun aku berharap apa yang aku alami ini tidak terjadi lagi kedepannya.
Kalian tahu, aku ingin bergabung ke suatu organisasi mahasiswa, apalagi sekarang, per saat aku tuliskan ini, aku sedang menjalani semester kelimaku atau tahun ketigaku di Jurusan Sastra Inggris di Universitas Terbuka (UT). Ini adalah waktu yang bagus menurutku apalagi karena aku sudah sangat terbiasa dengan sistem UT. Aku mencari-cari organisasi mahasiswa yang bagus tentunya. Secara umum aku menghindari organisasi berbasis agama namun aku tetap terbuka. Pada akhirnya aku memutuskan untuk bergabung ke HMI, organisasi mahasiswa Muslim terbesar di Indonesia.
Aku bergabung di HMI Komisariat IAIN Manado yang berada di bawah HMI Cabang Kota Manado. Kenapa di komisariat ini, karena dekat rumah dan aku mempunyai banyak teman lama di IAIN Manado, beberapa tergabung di HMI. Aku secara khusus berterimakasih kepada temanku, Afif, karena telah memberitahu banyak informasi tentang HMI. Dia adalah teman lamaku di SMP Muhammadiyah 1 Manado. Dia mahasiswa IAIN Manado dan juga tergabung di HMI. Tentunya aku senang karena dia dan aku sudah saling mengetahui sejak lama.
Aku kontak dia awal Oktober 2025 dan singkat cerita aku telah mengikuti screening peserta untuk latihan kader tingkat pertama (LK-1) pada 28 Oktober 2025. Berjalan dengan bagus tentunya itu. Aku telah melewati lima kriteria screening mereka yaitu: baca tulis Qur'an, kemahasiswaan, keislaman, keindonesiaan, dan motivasi bergabung. Tidak disangka Afif adalah penguji di kriteria kemahasiswaan. Aku sudah menaruh harapan besar sejak saat itu untuk nanti jika aku telah resmi menjadi kader HMI, walaupun pada akhirnya kondisi fisikku tidak mampu membuatku mengikuti LK-1 sampai selesai.
LK-1 HMI Komisariat IAIN Manado diselenggarakan selama tiga hari dari 31 Oktober sampai 2 November 2025 di Asrama Haji Manado milik Kementerian Agama. Sudah banyak perubahan tempat itu sejak aku terakhir kali pergi ke situ pada sekitar September 2019, sekarang sudah ada hotel khusus jemaah haji. Panitia menyewa (mungkin ya, mungkin) satu lantai hotel itu untuk kami para peserta LK-1 walaupun pembagian kamarnya baru dilakukan ketika malam. Aku dan beberapa peserta lainnya tiba di sana sekitar jam 3 siang setelah dijemput oleh salah satu dari panitia setelah kami menunggu dari jam 1 siang di masjid di IAIN Manado.
Sejak jam 3 siang sampai jam 7 malam hanya acara-acara dan sambutan-sambutan, termasuk pelantikan pengurus HMI Komisariat IAIN Manado untuk periode 2025-2026 oleh pengurus HMI Cabang Manado. Forum peserta baru dimulai sekitar jam 8 malam dan seterusnya. Pada saat itu aku sebenarnya sudah sangat lelah karena duduk terus sejak siang. Beruntungnya aku sempat berbaring di kasur di kamar hotel walaupun tidak lama, tetapi itu tidak cukup, aku harus berbaring dalam waktu yang lama. Kamu tahu bahwa aku mempunyai skoliosis dan itu membuatku mudah lelah. Aku beberapa kali berdiri dan kemudian duduk lagi ketika di forum.
Aku sudah berbicara dengan panitia pelatihannya tentang itu. Tentunya semua peserta harus mengikuti semua materi di forum tetapi sayangnya kondisi fisikku tidak mampu untuk mengikuti forum sampai selesai. Tidak mungkin aku berbaring di forum, lucu juga membayangkan itu. Aku tidak tahu bagaimana mereka menyusun LK-1 mereka tapi sepertinya istirahat antar materi sangat pendek jika mendengar penjelasan dari salah satu dari panitia. Mungkin hanya satu jam atau kurang, entahlah, tapi yang pasti itu tidak akan cukup bagiku, sungguh. Aku tidak mau memaksakan diriku.
Pada akhirnya aku harus berhenti dari LK-1 mereka. Aku pulang rumah pada jam 1 pagi besok harinya. Mereka mengerti aku dan aku mengerti mereka. Pilihannya adalah aku mengikuti mereka atau mereka mengikuti aku. Kedua pilihannya adalah tidak mungkin jadi aku harus berhenti. Aku bergabung di suatu organisasi bukan untuk mati tapi untuk hidup. Aku bisa mati jika memaksakan diriku. Mengatakan ini bukan berarti HMI itu tidak bagus, setidaknya berdasarkan pengalamanku sejauh ini dengan mereka. Tapi maaf, aku harus mengatakan bahwa LK-1 mereka adalah tidak inklusif, secara khusus tidak memperhatikan kondisi fisik peserta.
Aku tidak tahu jika apa yang aku alami ini pernah terjadi sebelumnya dalam suatu latihan kader HMI, entah di komisariat manapun atau cabang manapun, tapi jika pernah maka aku mewakili mereka yang mengalaminya, entah jika ada dari mereka yang mempunyai skoliosis atau masalah fisik lainnya. Aku mau tanya ke kalian yang pernah bergabung di HMI, apakah memang LK-1 HMI demikian atau hanya di kasusku saja? Aku tidak percaya jika di komisariat atau cabang lain seperti itu. Itu tidak inklusif. Aku sebenarnya baik dengan menceritakan ini karena aku tidak suka jika ini terjadi lagi.
Jika ada dari HMI Komisariat IAIN Manado atau HMI Cabang Kota Manado yang baca ini, tolong jangan asumsikan semua mahasiswa itu sehat secara fisik. Berikutnya jika kalian mengadakan latihan kader tolong perhatikan itu, atau jika memang prosedurnya harus seperti itu, tuliskan bahwa peserta harus mampu atau sehat secara fisik untuk mengikuti latihan kader. Entahlah jika aku nanti masih ada keinginan untuk bergabung di HMI. Kalian butuh orang-orang sepertiku tetapi sepertinya aku terlalu berharga untuk hanya berada di kalian sehingga semesta tidak merestui.
