moments of growth

1 Peter 3:17-18  NLT

You already know these things, dear friends. So be on guard; then you will not be carried away by the errors of these wicked people and lose your own secure footing.  Rather, you must grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. All glory to him, both now and forever! Amen.

The opportunities really are endless.  But do we take them?  Each day there are growth moments that we either taken in or we push away.  It is great to grow and let God work in our lives.

These can be moments with God.  And we need these.  Times in the Bible, praying, seeking God and thinking about all He has done.

This is opportunities to hear how others are growing in their faith.  Listen to stories, music, sermons and have conversations about what God is doing, how He works and the wonderful ways God moves.

Go on that trip.  Read that book.  Check out what gets you moving in the way of faith.  Those are moments of growth that God provides for us.  Take them.  Don’t miss them or push them away!

Colossians 1:10  NLT

Then the way you live will always honor and please the Lord, and your lives will produce every kind of good fruit. All the while, you will grow as you learn to know God better and better.

Scott Pilgrim EX review – is it time to grow up? | Games

It’s 20XX, and unrepentant slacker Scott Pilgrim and his friends are revelling in the throes of young adulthood. They’re skint, but in a cool way that’s unrecognisable today (not least because nobody can afford to live near downtown Toronto). For many readers, the Scott Pilgrim graphic novels were a cultural touchpoint, a story about emotional immaturity, growing as a person and ultimately…

Spotlight!: Fieldlily

There’s something so revitalising about the first signs of spring. Seeing the blossoms and daffodils in bloom, new leaves beginning to bud on the trees, the clouds occasionally parting to remind you how uplifting a few warm rays of sun can be. Sometimes a grey, bleak winter can drag on for so long that it feels like it will never end. Yet spring arrives regardless. It always does. Flowers bloom,…

Macron Condemns France’s ‘Antisemitic Hydra,’ Which ‘Continues to Grow’
On February 13, 2024, the 20th anniversary of the brutal murder of Ilan Halimi, French President Emmanuel Macron stood in the gardens of the Élysée Palace. With a spade in hand, he planted a sessile oak—a tree that can live for a millennium—in memory of the 23-year-old Jewish man who was tortured to death in Paris in 2006.…

Immune Cells Meant To Fight Cancer Are Secretly Helping Tumors Grow - Science News

Researchers have found that tumors can rewire neutrophils to promote cancer growth rather than suppress it. Forecasting whether a tumor will stay contained or accelerate is still one of oncology’s biggest unknowns. A team at the University of Geneva (UNIGE) and the Ludwig Institute for Cancer Research reports that one of the immune system’s most […]

Are you willing to change?

True intelligence is not found in being right. It is found in being willing to change. Growth happens the moment you allow new information to reshape old beliefs. When your thinking evolves your life follows. The goal was never to protect an identity or defend a position. The goal is truth and truth is always moving.

Curiosity is the doorway to expansion. When you remain open you stop treating being wrong as a failure and start seeing it as feedback. Resistance to new ideas is rarely about logic. It is about fear. Fear of looking weak. Fear of losing approval. Fear of letting go of a version of yourself that once felt safe.

Ego does not protect you. It thinks it does but it doesn’t. It limits you. It keeps you trapped in outdated patterns that no longer serve who you are becoming. The need to be perfect the need to be accepted and the need to always know are illusions that disconnect you from your real power.

You were never meant to be flawless. You were meant to always be aware. You were designed to grow through experience not defend against it. When you allow yourself to be human you access your True Self. The part of you that learns adapts and expands without resistance.

Change your thinking today by questioning what you are clinging to. Ask if it is helping you grow or simply helping you stay comfortable. The moment you choose learning over proving you step into your full potential and begin living the life you were always capable of creating.

If this message spoke to you or something within it resonated, I invite you to check out my other ideas in my books sold on Amazon. They have already helped thousands worldwide.

How to Plant, Grow, and Harvest Organic Arugula

How to Plant, Grow, and Harvest Organic Arugula

Arugula, also known as rocket, is a fast-growing leafy green loved for its peppery flavor and nutritional value. Whether you are a beginner gardener or an experienced grower, arugula is one of the easiest crops to grow organically at home. It thrives in cool weather, matures quickly, and can be harvested multiple times in a season. In this guide, you will learn how to plant, grow, and harvest organic arugula successfully in your kitchen garden or containers.

Why Grow Organic Arugula?

Growing arugula organically ensures that your greens are free from harmful chemical residues. Organic arugula is rich in vitamins A, C, and K, antioxidants, and minerals like calcium and potassium. Homegrown arugula tastes fresher and more flavorful than store-bought varieties and can be harvested just minutes before use, preserving its nutrients and crunch.

Choosing the Right Variety

Before planting, select a variety suited to your climate and taste preference. Common arugula varieties include:

  • Astro: Mild flavor, ideal for salads
  • Rocket (Roquette): Traditional variety with a strong peppery taste
  • Wild Arugula: Narrow leaves and intense flavor, slower growing

For organic gardening, always choose certified organic seeds to ensure healthy, chemical-free plants from the start.

When and Where to Plant Arugula

Arugula grows best in cool temperatures between 10°C and 20°C. It can be grown during early spring, autumn, and mild winters.

Choose a location that receives 4–6 hours of sunlight daily. In warmer regions, partial shade helps prevent the plants from bolting too quickly. Arugula grows well in garden beds, raised beds, and containers, making it perfect for small spaces and balconies.

Soil Preparation for Organic Arugula

Healthy soil is the foundation of organic gardening. Arugula prefers loose, well-draining soil rich in organic matter. Prepare the soil by:

  • Loosening it to a depth of 15–20 cm
  • Mixing in well-rotted compost or vermicompost
  • Ensuring a soil pH between 6.0 and 7.0

Avoid using synthetic fertilizers. Organic compost provides slow-release nutrients that support steady leaf growth.

How to Plant Arugula Seeds

Arugula is best grown directly from seeds, as it does not transplant well.

  1. Sow seeds about 0.5 cm deep in the soil.
  2. Space rows 15–20 cm apart.
  3. Lightly cover seeds with soil and water gently.
  4. Seeds usually germinate within 4–7 days.

For continuous harvests, practice succession planting by sowing new seeds every 2–3 weeks.

Watering and Mulching

Consistent moisture is essential for tender, flavorful leaves. Water arugula regularly to keep the soil evenly moist but not waterlogged. Inconsistent watering can cause bitter-tasting leaves.

Applying organic mulch such as straw, dried leaves, or grass clippings helps retain soil moisture, regulate temperature, and suppress weeds naturally.

Organic Care and Maintenance

Arugula is relatively low-maintenance, but a few organic practices can improve yields:

  • Thinning: Once seedlings are 5–7 cm tall, thin them to 8–10 cm apart. Thinned seedlings can be used as microgreens.
  • Weeding: Remove weeds regularly to prevent competition for nutrients.
  • Organic Feeding: If growth seems slow, apply diluted compost tea or liquid seaweed for a gentle nutrient boost.

Managing Pests Naturally

Common pests that affect arugula include flea beetles, aphids, and caterpillars. Organic pest control methods include:

  • Covering plants with insect netting or row covers
  • Spraying neem oil or garlic-chili spray
  • Encouraging beneficial insects like ladybugs

Healthy soil and proper spacing also reduce pest problems naturally.

When and How to Harvest Arugula

Arugula is ready to harvest in as little as 20–30 days after planting. You can harvest at different stages depending on your preference.

  • Baby leaves: Harvest when leaves are 5–8 cm long for mild flavor.
  • Mature leaves: Harvest at 10–15 cm for a stronger, peppery taste.

Use clean scissors or garden shears to cut outer leaves about 2–3 cm above the soil. Avoid cutting the central growing point to allow the plant to regrow. With proper care, you can harvest from the same plant multiple times.

Preventing Bolting

Bolting occurs when arugula plants flower and go to seed, making the leaves bitter. To delay bolting:

  • Grow arugula during cooler seasons
  • Provide partial shade in warm weather
  • Keep the soil consistently moist
