Today I saw something really lovely on social media.

Yes, terrible things can happen via social media, but then what’s in the image above happens too.

There was the potential for me to be really stressed and down at the moment, because of something I can’t control. I can only control how I respond. Reading this above was an enormous help today! Thank you, Sarah!

I think social media’s like time, money, water… neutral, with the capacity to be used for good or bad.

Do you agree?

Thanks!

Most people go through life asking:

What can I get?
What can I gain?
What can I sell?
What can I earn?
What can this person do for me?

But the people who build the strongest relationships, earn the deepest trust, and create the best long-term opportunities usually ask a different question:

What can I give first?

That simple shift can change everything.

Giving first is not weakness. It is leadership. It is trust in action. It is how real relationships are built.

Some of the best opportunities in life and business do not come from chasing. They come from generosity, authenticity, and the value you bring to others without always keeping score.

That is the message behind my latest blog post:
Why Giving First Can Open Doors in Life and Business

It is also one of the key ideas behind my upcoming book, “Relationship Wealth”.

At Kozen-ji, a Zen temple in Japan, there is a plaque that lists the seven kinds of generosity without money:

  • Generosity with Eyes — look at someone with gentle eyes.
  • Generosity of Harmonious Face — smile with a gentle-hearted face
  • Generosity with Words — speak kind words
  • Generosity with Body — work with sincere attitude
  • Generosity with Heart — have deep concern for others.
  • Generosity with Giving Your Seat — give your seat to elders
  • Generosity with Hospitality — welcome people with a kind heart

Not That I Don’t Appreciate the Generosity…

Well my coworker with good intentions is at it again. The same coworker I posted about once before back in November of last year https://polaris975.wordpress.com/2025/03/11/why-nonperishable-foods-are-better-for-donations/ has once again decided to bestow her generosity upon me for some strange reason not once but twice in the past couple weeks. I feel really bad though when she does this. First…

Dionysus, oh lord of endless festivity,
May you grant us the blessing of insanity
So that we may eagerly deliver brutality
To those who cater to cruelty
When they should have generosity.

Evening Prayer - 25 Feb 2026

Thank you, God, for the many ways I experienced generosity (at the receiving end) today: poetry, paintings, music, stories, truths, time, listening, food, community organizing. So many people having done and doing so many things to build community, to enflesh hope, to make space, to bring healing. I am blessed. We are blessed. Amen.

Ogbe Irete Odu Meaning: Why Generosity Requires Boundaries

According to the teachings of the Àtẹ̀pa Ìwòrì Temple, the meaning of Odu Ogbe Irete speaks to the sacred relationship between generosity and self-preservation. This Odu reveals that our blessings flow when our desire to give to and help others is governed by discernment. It emphasizes that true abundance requires you to protect the source from which you give.

At Asanee 44, this lineage-based…

We live in a time of take, take, take, but when we give to others, it always comes back to us. It’s a lesson I learned from Weight Watchers.

Deuteronomy 15 through 17 shows us a powerful balance—justice and mercy together.

God commands generosity, protects the vulnerable, and shapes humble leadership.
This points us to Christ, the perfect King who rules with compassion and truth.

Grace teaches generosity.
Knowing God reshapes how we lead and serve.

Deuteronomy 12 through 14 reminds us that worship shapes life.

God centers His people’s devotion so their hearts don’t drift.
This points us to Christ—the true place where God’s presence dwells.

Grace anchors worship.
Knowing God shapes how we live every day.

It’s extremely disheartening how often people’s kindness comes with strings attached. More times than not, the friendliness is motivated by what they can get from you—whether it’s a favor, help, or some kind of personal advantage—rather than genuine care or simply wanting to be decent to another person.

Trusting God and See How He Provides

Day 24 — Saturday, January 24, 2026

Story — Trusting God’s Timing and Provision in Every Detail

God has always been a God of details. From the smallest instruction to the grandest outcome, nothing escapes His careful attention. Scripture repeatedly invites God’s people to wrestle with an important question: will they trust Him enough to wait for His timing, follow His direction, and believe He…

Hello!

I know I don’t tend to post much original stuff and it’s mainly reblogs, but I’ve had some very sudden work changes come up and in short, I’ve got a sudden move coming up in a week and some change. Everything is chaotic and hectic right now, and combined with a death in the family I’m basically at my wit’s end. My biggest concern right now is money, since it’s such a short notice I didn’t have the time to save up anywhere near as much as I would have liked to take care of rent, utilities, stuff like that.

Any help you would be able to provide would be immensely appreciated, and thank you for your time in reading this post.
