Have you chosen your bouquet yet? If you’ve got some Big Day planning this year, make sure you go over what we’ve prepared to get a good idea on which blooms will make your wedding day blossom with charm and romance.
We have scoured the web for the latest trends in wedding flowers for the year 2016. Take a look and be able to decide which flowers to get for your wedding day.
Pink and Blue Harmony
In accordance with Pantone’s chosen colours for 2016 - serenity and rose quartz - wedding flowers in mix of blue and pink hues are going to be big this year. Serenity is just a lovely, serene color which could appease the stress most brides feel. The tone of rose quartz looks gentle, warm, soft and romantic. Both of these muted hues are calming making them perfect for such a big and momentous day.
Flowers with rose quartz shade include Peonies, Carnations, Roses, Lisianthus, Gerberas and Camellia. Fresh blooms that could represent the serenity colour would Cornflowers, Delphiniums,Nigella, Hydrangeas, and Pansies.
Nude and Pastels
The soft hues of Serenity and Rose Quartz could exert a pull on pastel shades and nude tones. Expect to see wedding flower colour motifs under the peach spectrum. Think neutral shades, lighter champagne hues, pale pink and peach.
Bouquets of peach dahlias, roses and zinnias with a succulent accent would look absolutely gorgeous. Peach garden roses and gardenias would look really sweet while a bouquet of wildflowers with peach zinnia accents would look chic. Peach and cream is also a lovely colour combination for a wedding bouquet.
Natural
More and more brides will continue to go for natural, “just-picked” look for their wedding bouquet. In the recent years, we’ve seen a lot of country garden and rustic vintage wedding themes and we bet such trend will continue. Such themes are just timeless, beautiful, romantic and oh-so-chic, no matter the season or the generation. So when it comes to 2016 wedding flowers, we’re sure to see more greens, wildflowers, and more natural looking arrangements.
Unusual foliage
Brides of today look for unique foliage to include in their bouquet. Thanks to the World Wide Web, brides are now more familiar with different floral varieties. They come to their florist armed with the name of their chosen blooms and with a photo of the floral arrangement they want. They may even have some names of the leaf varieties they prefer as well as the fillers.
The more common foliage choices are Queen Anne’s Lace, Daucus Black Knight, Flax, Raspberry greens, and Amaranth.
When choosing your wedding bouquet flowers, make sure you give consideration to the look of your wedding dress. Your bouquet will be dependent on the style, shape and design of your dress; it should not drown you or hide your gown’s silhouette.
When it comes to the floral arrangements at the reception or ceremony venue, consider your theme and your chosen wedding colour motif. Consider the season too as not all flowers will be available all year round. When consulting your florist, bring a photo of your wedding dress, your bridesmaid’s dress fabric swatch, and brochure of the ceremony/reception sites. These can help you and your florist identify the best flowers and floral arrangement for your big day.
We’re not sure about you guys but we have been glued to the TV and
tuning in for our weekly dose of The Block NZ!! We are particularly
enjoying watching how they incorporate of bit of life into their designs
and have begun to notice a few trends just like in the Bathroom Reveals
with the living walls (which we loved by the way!!). Us girls at Ruby
Rose love us a little bit of home design and love any excuse to combine
two of our favorite loves (flowers and home décor). A perfect
opportunity for us to blogging on the matter we thought! So
below you will find four handpicked easy style ideas to help brighten
up your home and give it a little life!! Perfect for those on a budget,
low on time, those that lack that design eye, basically anyone, we think
even men could put one of these wee gems together!
Going Green..
Not
a pretty flower person? No problem! Adding just a little bit of
greenery into your home can make such a massive difference. Bringing
life inside from out does all sorts of great things for the soul (even
if you don’t realise it!). We have put together a simple arrangement
using gorgeous greenery from outside that can be easily sourced. Trust
us, try this once and you won’t be able to stop yourself after that!
Testing the Waters..
Test
tubes seem to be all the rage at the moment, the best part is that it
doesn’t take too many stems in each tube to create a statement piece for
a special spot in your home! We’ve found bedside tables to be a popular
spot, bathroom vanities entertaining blooms is a winner and even a work space is a perfect spot!!
Life in Abundance
Looking
for something dramatic yet super simple? We’ve found the answer! Select
one favorite type of flower of foliage and roll with it! That is the
key, anything in abundance creates an impact. Even something as basic as
a whole lot of flax (this is everywhere) in a vase placed somewhere
creates statement!! We have a cute little bubble vase that sits on our
desk at the studio and any opportunity to fill it with blooms is happily
taken! At the moment our little bubble is entertaining some stunning Tulips !! VOLUME = STATEMENT!
Don’t be a Wallflower!
Creating
something a little unusual to enjoy is always so much fun and will
always create a bit of talk, Using different materials and textures
forces our eyes to be drawn to it, it’s like something innate in us that
we can’t ignore!! We are loving the use of fruit in arrangements and
are frequently seeing the use of limes and lemons in arrangements along
with richer toned fruit for something ultra luxurious you could try
Tamarillo’s, cherries and grapes. Yum! If fruit ain’t your thing hunt
down some branches or tree berries. They’ll have the same effect!
