Landscape with the Fall of Icarus
According to Brueghel
when Icarus fell
it was spring
a farmer was ploughing
his field
the whole pageantry
of the year was
awake tingling
near
the edge of the sea
concerned
with itself
sweating in the sun
that melted
the wings’ wax
unsignificantly
off the coast
there was
a splash quite unnoticed
this was
Icarus drowning

About to paint over all that detail with black paint.
Felt like I had to photograph the colours before I potentially mess things up trying to make a dark iridescent effect.
The thought of painting this thing did actually make me get up and be more active, lol. Although, I will have to put things on pause for a while.
