This really cute love triangle between the feisty (oblivious) local girl Xing and the charming but wormy lord and the loyal but awkward guard is making my day!!!
All the side characters are extremely well crafted in this show. They feel so vibrant and realistic with their layered personalities. It’s like being at work… surrounded by people that are all kinda likable but also easy to hate depending on your mood.
One thing I noticed in NCIS that makes me sad, the guy in season 4 episode 16. The one Ziva knows from her running route. She wears his orange hat in later episodes 😭
Okay, so I’ve hit the end of Episode 16 and I am delighted with how much I loathe Prince Duan… and not just the adult version. The latest diary entry confirms that he’s been a malicious, manipulative, scheming bastard since he was young. Everything about him in this scene! No wonder Baby CEO Dan looks so stricken. His attempts to befriend or at least not antagonise the other princes are constantly undermined and sabotaged
Poor baby didn’t stand a chance with this vindictive arsehole on one side and the psycho-bitch Dowager on the other. It’s incredible how much of his sanity he’s actually managed to hold onto and that he stayed alive all this time.
Gods, this show!

There’s a lot to unpack here in the episode. I know I made a couple of jokes, but slavery really isn’t something to joke about. It is a very serious topic, and I’m a little surprised to see it coming up in this series. It’s not something that was really explored in the films, so it’s a little… shocking isn’t quite the word I’m looking for, but it’s close. It’s a little shocking to see it being discussed quite openly here.
I do appreciate it, and I do hope that it is brought up again. Bc exploring how clones are treated and regarded within this galaxy is something that is much needed, imo.
I do have to say, it is a little jarring to watch this show chronologically. I’m sure some of these characters were well established prior to this episode, and coming in during the middle of that can throw off a new viewer. I’m wondering if knowledge of some of these characters would change my opinions of them after seeing the rest of the first 2 seasons.
So, up next if the movie, which I’ll start tomorrow. Now, I don’t normally try to make any predictions on movies, but it does seem like the plot from this episode will carry over to it.
The droids are going to attack the base, Slick is going to be freed to join the Separatists, and then the main series will officially be kicked off.

It’s interesting to me that Slick is the only 1 who sees the clones as being slaves, and none of the others do. There’s really something to unpack here, and how beliefs can vary amongst everyone, despite having similar lives and identities.
