Manhattan Bridge Bike Path

I picked a background of the Manhattan Bridge bike path which I often ride across and layered three images—two of the path, and one of the empty street under the bridge—to create the background. I wanted to recreate the feeling of the wheels rolling over the dividers in each block of sidewalk which is a bit of a bumpy ride. I layered the images with the street photo beneath two copies of the bike path photos, one on top of the other. I used the Advanced Puppet Pin Tool and a bit of the coding to affect the position option of each bike path photo to create the illusion of motion. Each bike path layer moves up and down and back and forth independently of the other as the cutout cyclists roll over the path. The code I used is below:

effect(“Puppet”).arap.mesh(“Mesh 1”).deform(“Puppet Pin 2”).position
loopOut(“cycle”)

I also utilized the Advanced Puppet Pin Tool to move the characters as they approach up the path.

The sounds were collected from YouTube and freesound.org. I edited them to fit the timeline, and layered them to convey the feeling of riding on the downhill slope into Manhattan.

Rightooo!

This is Jagri, my newly updated (and upgraded, if you ask me) fiery troublemaker of Ghosttown. As you might notice, he has no visible pupils, as he is blind. His glasses are his means to see. But how he got them? That is a mystery.

This was a “draw your OC in your own clothes”- challenge, so these are not actually his official clothes.

Any thoughts?

Anyone else going critically insane waiting for the new season so they’re making countless Unicorn Academy fan animations which, and let’s be honest with ourselves, will never actually be finished?

Week2 day1: I started the day by making some slight alterations to my landscape to see if it would make it look any better. I made a copy of my original and then I filled the foreground with more hedge and layered more pattern paper to give more depth to the hedge. I then also experimented with a different lace to see if it would look better on the Gazebo. I prefer the newest version I made because I like the more textured hedge. This took a bit of fiddling to get right but I’m happy with the result.

I also drew myself in the ‘Charlie and Lola’ style, (I was surprised by how much fun I had drawing myself like this). Then I stuck some different fabrics on to my drawing to see what fabrics I want to use for my 3D mini me. I was also thinking about what materials I wanted to use to make my sculpture.

I was photographed in front of my picture of my landscape along with the fabrics I was thinking of using to better visualise whether the colours and patterns will work with the backgrounds. I’ve decided that I’ll use the green fabric for my jumper and the red patterned fabric for my tie as the colours tie in well with the greens and reds I used in my landscape.

I decided to make my face out of felt as I don’t have much experience with felting and begun getting the basic size of my head by felting wool into a ball. But I was advised that to save felting wool that I should first make a sort of base and then felt a layer of wool on top of it. We went through a few options before I decided that I will use a styrofoam base. I first outlined roughly the size of my face, then using a heated wire, I was able to cut through the styrofoam precisely, there were some parts that I cut out wrong but I was able to get around those mistake by glueing them in place. I also cut some ears out while I was at it . Then I got started on felting the wool into place, cutting out my facial features from paper and got stared on experimenting with my hair.

It was a bit intimidating using the heated wire for the first time and I made some mistakes with it but I was pleased with results anyway. It was also hard trying to decide what fabrics I wanted to use but thanks to the photoshoot, I was able to make a quick decision on it.
