These are my sketch cards for @dynamitecomics Puppet Master trading card set. I had a lot of fun working on these cards, the horror genre is not something I think too much about but I may need to draw more horror inspired stuff in the future.
I used to watch the Puppet Master movies with my dad when I was a kid. He rented them from a local video rental store and we would sit in the living room and watch them. All the puppets are so cool looking but my favorite is Blade. Okay, so I took advantage of a sale at @thepinkalamode to buy a copy of the METAL cover for #GargoylesComic number 1 from @dynamitecomics!
It is definitely a METAL cover, and not just metallic paper/printing. The warning label about sharp corners isn’t kidding–the corners of the bag are all a little bit sliced straight out of the sealed cardboard envelope (photos 2 and 7)!
It looks like it’s a printed metal plate glued to a regular issue of the comic. The whole thing is fascinating to me. I wasn’t sure what to expect, and details about exactly what this metal cover IS just don’t seem to be out there. Hopefully this answers questions for anyone who was wondering!

I have done a few sketch cards for @dynamitecomics over the years and one of my favorite sets was the Chaos! Comics set. Today’s doodle is a Lady Hel. I had so much fun drawing her on the cards that I thought I would try her on a larger scale. I found out that she is fun to draw at any size :)
